21st Century Health bags Narayana Hrudayalaya Project
Narayana
Hrudayalaya, Bangalore and Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac
Sciences, Kolkata two of the largest cardiac super-speciality hospitals in India,
managed by Dr Devi Shetty's Asia Heart Foundation, have partnered with Mumbai-based
21st Century Health Management Solutions (21st CHMS) to implement state-of-the-art
Advanced Imaging System (AIS).
"The AIS incorporates a path breaking approach to imaging workflows which
is specially designed keeping in mind the high volumes handled by these two
hospitals and the need to make a dramatic impact on their patient services and
the cost," informs Rajeev Tatkar, Principal Consultant, 21st CHMS.
While the conventional PACS system revolves around improving radiological viewing
and reporting efficiency, the 21st Century Health's AIS delivers cath-lab, 2D-echo,
radiology images and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) into a unified interface
to the clinicians.
The cardiac consultants, interventional cardiologists and surgeons will get
access to images from a wide variety of modalities at various stages during
the assessment and treatment of the patient, improving their clinical decisions
as well as the speed. "The quality of the treatment plan and the intra-surgery
decision making processes are improved when the clinicians have a quick and
easy access to the entire set of images at a glance. The image viewing stations
are being planned across the hospitals at the diagnostic modalities, in all
consultation rooms, near all operation theatres and Intensive Treatment Units
(ITUs)," says Tatkar.
The imaging project is expected to be implemented at Narayana Hrudayalaya by
October 2007. A conventional RIS/CIS/PACS implementation of this scale would
have cost at least Rs 3-4 crore at each hospital.
