'Dramatic Change in Medicine Practice in Next 20 Years'

October 13, 2007
ServeArthan 2007, Mumbai

Dr NM Kondap

There will be more change in the practice of medicine in the next 20 years than it has been in previous 2,000 years. This was opined by Anil Kamath, MD of Wockhardt Hospitals Group during ServeArthan 2007 (Serve for services sector and Arthan for economic development) organised by Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). "It is healthcare and not railways, education or any other industry that generates maximum employment," added Kamath, who was the chief guest of the seminar. The seminar was inaugurated by NMIMS Vice-chancellor Dr NM Kondap and Kamath. The theme of the seminar was 'Destination 2020: Going the H-way'. Here 'H' stood for healthcare and hospitality. The seminar was divided into three sessions, current scenario, opportunities and challenges and lessons in service excellence Arun Datta, HR Head, Escorts Hospital, New Delhi gave details on 'Current Scenario of Healthcare Delivery in India' and said that outsourcing is no more limited to billing and medical transcriptions; it involves cleaning, food service and patient service. Homi Aibara, Partner, Mahajan & Aibara claimed that the real growth driver for both the hospitality and healthcare sector is real estate. Grant Muddle, Senior VP, Operations, Apollo Hospitals Group expressed his view on service excellence through employee and customer engagement. The Seminar was sponsored by MTNL, Birla Life Insurance, LIC and MAK Lubricant. Express Healthcare was one of the knowledge partners.
