Trivitron
Brem range of X-ray Products

Trivitron, the largest Indian medical technology company, for the first time recently launched home products in the imaging division under its new brand name Brem. Brem range of X-ray products will be of two types, the conventional two pulse X-ray generator and the latest state-of-the-art high frequency generator. Trivitron expects to bring out about 200 X-ray units, 50 C Arms amongst others such as mammography, dental X-ray, and digital X-rays, together contributing to Rs 10 crore of sales in the first six months of operation. All Brem products will be manufactured by the Trivitron's owned subsidiary.

Brem stands for the well-known method of X-ray generation called Bremsstrahlung. Under the conventional category, Brem products include X-rays machines from 30mA hand-held/60mA portable to 300 mA and 500mA stationary units. Whereas, for the high frequency type, Brem products will be C-Arm systems of both 6 inches and 9 inches with stationary and rotating anode, mobile and stationary X-ray machines of 110mA and X-ray systems of 20kw, 50kw and 80kw. DR systems, Dental X-rays, Mammography and Mobile Cathlab will soon be added to its portfolio.

The new age high frequency X-ray generator, introduced by the Company, reduces X-ray dose to almost half, for patients without any quality compromise. It also eliminates soft radiation, which can cause skin cancer over prolonged exposure. Compact in nature, high frequency X-ray generators are also power savers, which require only a single phase power source and is operable from a five amp power point.

Sivasankar, GM, Imaging Division, Trivitron Medical Systems, said, "Trivitron is edged towards its Vision 2010 of reaching Rs 1,000 crore of revenues.”

With these whole range of products along with other sub systems such as II TV system, image memory, manual and motorised tables, floor-to-ceiling column stand, Trivitron aims to become a one stop shop for all X-ray products and accessories.

Mega 2000 and Mega Soft Reusable Patient Pad

Mega 2000 patient return electrode is very different than the older sticky disposable return electrode or the silicon reusable return pad. Mega 2000 technology does not require direct patient contact with the return electrode. It is easy to use and reusable (18 months warranty), saving the customer both time and money. Mega 2000 is larger (46 times larger than any other return pad), allowing electro surgical current to be dispersed over a larger area, minimising heat built-up and protecting the patient. This unique feature provides a level of safety unsurpassed by any other return electrode in the market today.

The technology of 'capacitively coupled return electrode' used in Mega 2000 is employed in Mega Soft also. Mega Soft is designed for OR table pressure reduction made with Akton polymer. It helps in reducing decubitus ulcers formed due to pressure, shear and friction. Mega 2000 and Mega Soft totally eliminate pad site burn and alternate site burn due to its large surface area. During procedure, a draw sheet can be placed over the pad and hence the patient is not in contact with the pad. It is of great help to theatre staff as Mega can be used with patients who have frail skin or extensive injuries (such as burns) that would make the use of adhesive electrodes difficult or impossible. In an OR, where on an average three-four procedures are done per day, Mega series pad is useful to bring down the cost of pad (if sticky pads are presently used) by about 70 per cent. The other advantage is the total elimination of sticky pad waste which, in an OR with three-four procedures per day, would be around 120 kilograms per theatre per year and this will make a real difference in reducing environmental waste (one Mega Soft is equal to 1,500 sticky pads). Mega 2000 and Mega Soft return pads are approved by FDA and are manufactured by Megadyne Medicals (USA).
