Bayer Conducts Free Sugar Testing Camp
Bayer
Diabetes Care, a division of Bayer Healthcare, recently conducted a month-long
free sugar testing camp at the Chatrapati Shivaji airport, Mumbai. In commemoration
of Diabetes Month, citizens availed of the opportunity to get their blood glucose
levels tested using Contour TS, Bayer's new blood glucose monitor, launched
in September last. Over 5,000 people tested their blood glucose levels at the
camp within a span of three weeks.
With over 35 million Indians reported to be suffering from diabetes, this camp
marks the beginning of a host of community directed activities to educate citizens
on the sweet stalker and its risks. Rakesh Julka, Country Division Head, Bayer
Diabetes Care-India, said, "As India is an emerging hotbed for diabetes,
there is a need to create awareness among people about proper diabetes management.
This special camp, held to mark the diabetes month, was well received by the
common man and celebrities alike. Through extensive free testing camps and educative
sessions on diabetes throughout the country, our aim is to make each Indian
suffering from the disease realise, that though diabetes cannot be cured, the
prevention and control can definitely be a simple task."
