Escorts Gets a new Chairman
Dr Ashok Seth, internationally renowned cardiologist has joined Escorts Heart
Institute and Research Centre Ltd. (EHIRCL) as the Chairman, Cardiac Sciences
and Chief Cardiologist. Dr Seth's return will considerably enhance clinical
competency at the Hospital. Dr Seth will lead the 'Comprehensive Cardiac Programme'
at Escorts, which includes adult and paediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery,
minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery. Dr Seth has pioneered numerous
new techniques of angioplasty in Asia Pacific. On his new role Dr Seth, who
has also been featured in the 'Limca Book of Records' for having conducted the
highest number of angiograms and angioplasties in the world, shared, "Over
the past year, the Hospital has gone through a transition in terms of increased
management efficiencies, introduction of enhanced patient care systems and a
renewed focus by the new management, which is what brings me back to the institution
that I helped start and co-led." On the inclusion of Dr Seth, Shivinder
Mohan Singh, Managing Director, Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre
Limited said, "Dr Seth has played a key role in building up this institution
and bringing it at par with the best in the world. We have always valued his
contribution and are delighted to have him back with us." Dr Seth was the
first cardiologist in India to use directional coronary atherectomy and stents
and more recently the 'drug eluting stents' in treating heart blockages, a step
that has revolutionised the treatment of coronary artery disease. He was also
the first person in Asia to perform angioscopy and angiojet thrombectomies and
of the few cardiologists in the world to perform percutaneous myocardial laser
revascularisation.
