L&T to Continue & Strengthen its Medical Equipment Business

MED is setting up a contemporary manufacturing facility on a site close to its existing unit in Mysore

L&T has announced that it would continue with the operations of its Mysore-based Medical Equipment & Systems (MED) business unit.

Said RN Mukhija, President-Operations and Member of L&T, "In view of the overwhelming demand from our esteemed customers, L&T management has decided to retain the medical equipment business. L&T will continue to bring in suitable products in the interest of the nation to provide better healthcare. The decision takes into account the interests of all stakeholders-customers, distributors etc, who have always held L&T's medical products in high esteem. L&T has been a provider of a wide range of medical equipment with a distribution network across the country."

In order to cater to the growing market needs, MED is setting up a contemporary manufacturing facility on a recently acquired site close to its existing unit in Mysore.

The groundbreaking ceremony was performed on October 10, 2008. The facility is expected to be ready by early part of the next financial year. The new facility will enhance the capability fro managing the growth of the business with its recently introduced range of advanced 55 series multi parameter monitors, namely Star 55, Planet 55, Galaxy 55, besides Wireless Central Nursing Stations-Skyline 55 and new ultrasound color dopplers.

"The MED business continues streamlining its various business processes such as sales and marketing, supply chain and service management as a continuous endeavour for improved operational efficiencies and value creation. It is now geared up to provide better on line support to its customers through a world class customer interaction centre," added Mukhija.
