Fortis Hospital Launches Malar Heart Institute at Malar Hospital

The centre will be equipped to undertake complete gamut of cardiac care services

Fortis Healthcare Limited announced the launch of 'Malar Heart Institute' at Malar Hospital in Chennai. The comprehensive centre will have specific focus and expertise in handling acute cardiac cases. Dr KR Balakrishnan, renowned cardiac surgeon of international acclaim, will lead the cardiac programme as Director of Cardiac Sciences.

The centre will be equipped with cutting edge technology and infrastructure including 30 dedicated CCUs, two dedicated OTs, electro physiology laboratory, diagnostic services and a cath lab. The heart centre following international level protocols, will be equipped to undertake complete gamut of cardiac care services ranging from prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of cardiac patients. Services available at centre would include invasive and non invasive cardiology and cardiac surgery entailing coronary artery bypass surgery, paediatric cardiac surgery, cardiac health checks, angioplasty, port access surgery, minimally invasive surgery, valve replacement surgery and EP studies.

Inaugurating the cardiac facility as Chief Guest Thiru MK Stalin, Minister for Rural Development & Local Administration, Tamil Nadu, said, "The state of Tamil Nadu has witnessed tremendous growth in the healthcare industry over the past few years. Launching of new medical programmes is a boon to the people of the state. Our Government welcomes initiatives geared towards providing superior healthcare to the people of the state."

Present at the occasion Guest of Honour, Thiru MRK Paneerselvam, Minister for Health, Tamil Nadu, said, "Cardiac problems are no longer confined to only urban areas and have spread to rural pockets too. Setting up cardiac facilities such as The Malar Heart Institute is definitely the need of the hour for the state and will bring critical healthcare closer to the people."

Fortis Healthcare, post acquisition of Malar hospital this year, has been investing in the infrastructure of the hospital, its technology and equipment besides bringing in world class medical expertise at the facility.
