Admission for the programme is on across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad

Clinical Research Education & Management Academy (CREMA) is launching Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Research Management (APGDCRM) course, which will include not only clinical research module but clinical data management, pharmacovigilance and management & soft skill module as well.

Along with the main course modules of clinical research, the APGDCR programme will incorporate key management topics like modern principles in management, organisational behavior studies, finance, human resources management, and outsourcing vendor management. There also will be special emphasis on self management and people skills, communication, project management, business communication and business etiquette.

CREMA is introducing a unique Leap Learning system which will achieve three bench marks. Firstly, the specially designed one-year curriculum will emphasis on substantive learning, and thus accelerate the learning process for faster career growth and success and ensures learn faster and earn faster. Secondly, it would include exclusive management module and soft skills that will provide the students the much needed inter-personal aptitude, dynamism and confidence to face the corporate world of clinical research. It will give finishing touch required by a professional. Thirdly, the course will be updated regularly with dynamic curriculu, keeping the students aligned to the industry.

Admissions for one-year full time APGDCRM programme is on, across its campuses in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad and is meant for graduates and post-graduates in life sciences, medicine, homeopathy and Ayurveda.

"The industry's constant concern about a lack of management and communication skills among a majority of clinical research professionals has been instrumental towards integrating a significant management and soft skills training among our students," said Vijay Moza, Chairman, CREMA.

Said Dr Deven Parmar, Vice President- Clinical Research, Wockhardt, "Communication and soft management skills are essential for growth in the clinical research industry, as there is lot of communication and decision making involved with the patients, with your team, with the medical fraternity and industry. A lack of quality in communication and management skills might affect the quality of research, which may hamper the flow of more clinical research projects to India."

The clinical research curricula offered by CREMA are in collaboration with the UK-based William Harvey Research Ltd, a reputed pharmacological research institution set up by Nobel Laureate Sir John Vane.

India has been considered as a hub for clinical trials by pharma MNCs due to its high quality and less expensive work resources. The recent economic recession, which has hit the West significantly, has further enhanced the necessity for MNCs for carrying out clinical trials in the country. As per a McKinsey study, the demand for clinical research professionals in India will increase manifold and is estimated to reach to 50,000 clinical research professionals by 2012.
