GreenSeminar
Seminar on Green Healthcare
Hosmac Foundation under its initiative Hosmac Knowledge Forum
is organising a conference on: Practising Green Healthcare in The Intercontinental
The Lalit,Mumbai on 27th June 2009.
Green Healthcare Practice is a model based on the understanding
that human and environmental healthcare inextricably linked. The environment
in which we live is extremely fragile and of late, the global environmental
changes have awakened many, to the need to address it more seriously. This mandates
a need for a healthcare system to actively participate in reducing the detrimental
impact on the environment, caused by hospitals.
Says Dr Vivek Desai, MD, Hosmac, "Hospitals are resource-intensive
organisations and consume large volumes of energy and water. Greening hospitals
infrastructure focus on healthy and sustainable building design and construction
and have better ability to improve patient care and reduce operational expenses
(especially on energy and water). Greening operations focus on lowering the
use of environmentally toxic material in hospitals, recycling and reusing material,
wherever possible, which further reduces costs but enhances acceptable and environment
sensitivity among patients. "
The thematic topics for the seminar will be 'Green Building
Certification: Process Simplified', 'Designing an Eco Friendly Hospital', 'Energy
Efficiency in Hospital Engineering', 'Greening Healthcare Operations' and 'Panel
Discussion: Can Hospitals Really be Green?'.
Key industry leaders, decision makers from various healthcare
providers in the region are expected to attend the event.
