Fujifilm Launches New CR Model

Fujifilm announced the launch of its new Computed Radiography (CR) model 'PRIMA' through its national sole distributor Jindal Photo Limited in Delhi, recently. This is a basic entry level CR system which has all the features of Fujifilm existing product line- maintaining its high image quality and stability. Computed Radiography (CR) system upgrades the existing conventional X-ray facility to digital.

There are ample advantages of this technology- darkroom and chemicals are not required to process the X-ray, there are reduced storage costs because images can be stored digitally. Also, computed radiography rarely requires retake due to wider exposure latitude, which results in lower radiation to the patient. Image acquisition is also much faster - image previews can be available in less than 45 seconds, images can be enhanced digitally to aid in interpretation and images can be stored on disk or transmitted for off-site review.

On this occasion Kenichi Tanaka, Managing Director, Fujifilm India Pvt Ltd, observed, "It has always been apart of our vision to bring latest technology in the field of medical imaging into India which is such a big and growing market, I hope that people of India especially the medical fraternity would be immensely benefited by the launch of new CR Model-PRIMA." CR has now become the main tool in acquiring, processing and displaying digital images. CR uses same conventional radiography equipment, except that in place of a film to create the image, an imaging plate (IP) made of photostimulable phosphor is used.

Said Rajeev Agarwal, Director - Marketing, Jindal Photo Ltd, "As the people are getting more and more health conscious, so the need of better diagnostic and early detection is increasing in India. PRIMA in an effort towards bringing the quality diagnosis at the smallest clinic or imaging centre at an affordable price, which will help in modernisation of overall medical facility in the country."
