MS Ramaiah Medical College to Manage 9 Yemen Military Hospitals

In all, MSR Group would now manage over 2,000 beds in these nine hospitals

MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital

Bangalore-based MS Ramaiah Medical College and Hospitals have recently tied up with the Republic of Yemen to offer consultancy and manpower training to its nine major military hospitals. The tie-up was finalised in July, this year.

The MSR Group started managing the first Yemen hospital, the 100-bed Modern Hospital, in October 2009. In all, MSR Group would now manage over 2,000 beds in these nine hospitals.

Additionally, Gokula Education Foundation of MSR Group by dint of an MoU with the Management and Science University, Malaysia has set up a new medical college to enroll 150 Malaysian Government-sponsored students to offer under graduate medical education. This off shore teaching training facility is now on since 2006. The first batch had around 90 students. Now, the third batch has enrolled.

Meanwhile, MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital is commissioning another 200 beds, taking the total bed strength to 500 beds. This would mean adding another 75,000 square feet space. "We started with 300 beds in 2004 and within three years we are running with 100 per cent occupancy. Thus, we are adding another 200 beds," said the hospital representative. Besides creating space, it is also upgrading some departments. It is also strengthening its radiology department by adding 1.5 telsa MRI and one multi slice CT scan (there are already one). In neurosurgery, it is soon starting deep brain stimulation, micro surgery and CUSA surgery. "The cost of the expansion, inclusive of construction and equipment, is Rs 50 crore," the representative informed.
