KIMS Opens Hospital in Oman
It is the largest private hospital in Oman offering advanced
healthcare facilities in over 15 different specialties

Kerala Institute of Medical Science (KIMS) has recently inaugurated
its third hospitalKIMS Oman Hospital at Darsait in Muscat. The hospital
was inaugurated by HE Dr Ali bin Mohammed bin Moosa, Minister of Health, Sultanate
of Oman. The inaugural function was attended by advisor to His Majesty Sultan
Qaboos, several ministers, under secretaries and many corporate executives,
including Dr P Mohamed Ali and Ameer Ahmed.
KIMS Oman Hospital is the largest private hospital in Oman with a capacity of
50 beds offering advanced healthcare facilities in over 15 different specialties.
The departments include general medicine, general surgery, laparoscopic &
bariatric surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology,
pediatrics, cosmetology and dermatology, cardiology, radiology, pathology, anesthesiology,
dental and physiotherapy.
Diagnostic facilities at KIMS Oman Hospital include spiral CT system, 4-D ultra-sonography,
500 mA digital X-Ray unit with 'C' Arm, portable X-Ray unit for bedside X-Ray
scan, intra-operative IITV for surgeries, fully automated bio-chemistry analyser,
fully automated immunology analyser, haematology analyser and laminar flow OTs.
Other services at the hospital include 24x7 emergency and ambulance services,
audiology and speech therapy, dentistry and dental implants, physiotherapy and
rehabilitation and 24-hour pharmacy.
According to Dr MI Sahadullah, Chairman, KIMS, KIMS Oman Hospital aims
at improvising the existing healthcare delivery systems by ensuring provisioning
of state-of-the-art diagnostic, operative and critical care facilities."
He added that the hospital would provide healthcare delivery with care and compassion
at an affordable cost, subsidised care for the non-affording and offer exchange
training programmes between KIMS, Thiruvananthapuram and KIMS Oman Hospital,
Muscat for Omani nationals. He further added that sub-specialty clinics would
be chaired by eminent visiting consultants and accreditation of the hospital
would be initiated at the earliest to set healthcare delivery benchmarks in
the country. VMA Hakkim, Executive Director, KIMS Oman, highlighted the hospital's
intention to train Omani nationals for the various hospital functions and minimise
overseas travel of Omanis for their medical needs.
KIMS has a 450-bed hospital in Thirivananthapuram and a 50-bed peripheral unit
in Balaramapuram, located at around 20 kilometers from Thirivananthapuram. Additionally,
it has polyclinics in Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
