KIMS Opens Hospital in Oman

It is the largest private hospital in Oman offering advanced healthcare facilities in over 15 different specialties

KIMS Oman Hospital

Kerala Institute of Medical Science (KIMS) has recently inaugurated its third hospital—KIMS Oman Hospital at Darsait in Muscat. The hospital was inaugurated by HE Dr Ali bin Mohammed bin Moosa, Minister of Health, Sultanate of Oman. The inaugural function was attended by advisor to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, several ministers, under secretaries and many corporate executives, including Dr P Mohamed Ali and Ameer Ahmed.

KIMS Oman Hospital is the largest private hospital in Oman with a capacity of 50 beds offering advanced healthcare facilities in over 15 different specialties. The departments include general medicine, general surgery, laparoscopic & bariatric surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, pediatrics, cosmetology and dermatology, cardiology, radiology, pathology, anesthesiology, dental and physiotherapy.

Diagnostic facilities at KIMS Oman Hospital include spiral CT system, 4-D ultra-sonography, 500 mA digital X-Ray unit with 'C' Arm, portable X-Ray unit for bedside X-Ray scan, intra-operative IITV for surgeries, fully automated bio-chemistry analyser, fully automated immunology analyser, haematology analyser and laminar flow OTs. Other services at the hospital include 24x7 emergency and ambulance services, audiology and speech therapy, dentistry and dental implants, physiotherapy and rehabilitation and 24-hour pharmacy.

According to Dr MI Sahadullah, Chairman, KIMS, “KIMS Oman Hospital aims at improvising the existing healthcare delivery systems by ensuring provisioning of state-of-the-art diagnostic, operative and critical care facilities."

He added that the hospital would provide healthcare delivery with care and compassion at an affordable cost, subsidised care for the non-affording and offer exchange training programmes between KIMS, Thiruvananthapuram and KIMS Oman Hospital, Muscat for Omani nationals. He further added that sub-specialty clinics would be chaired by eminent visiting consultants and accreditation of the hospital would be initiated at the earliest to set healthcare delivery benchmarks in the country. VMA Hakkim, Executive Director, KIMS Oman, highlighted the hospital's intention to train Omani nationals for the various hospital functions and minimise overseas travel of Omanis for their medical needs.

KIMS has a 450-bed hospital in Thirivananthapuram and a 50-bed peripheral unit in Balaramapuram, located at around 20 kilometers from Thirivananthapuram. Additionally, it has polyclinics in Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
