Accreditation

Hinduja Receives NABH

Recently, it has also received IMC Ramakrishna Bajaj Award and CAP accreditation for quality

PD Hinduja Hospital

Mumbai's PD Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Center recently received NABH accreditation (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers). This follows closely the IMC Ramakrishna Bajaj Award and the College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation for quality.

Said Pramod Lele, CEO, PD Hinduja Hospital, "Hinduja Hospital has achieved another milestone in its endeavour to provide 'Quality Healthcare for All', which is its motto.” He added that the accreditation benefits all stakeholders, especially patients. It ensures high quality of care and patient safety with patients receiving medical services from credential medical staff. Patient's rights are safeguarded by regular evaluation of patient satisfaction. “The accreditation will help us to benchmark with international quality providing world-class quality services to its patients. NABH accreditation also improves overall professional development of clinicians and para medical staff," he informed.

He added that the process of accreditation though voluntary, is considered an important benchmark of quality and safety for insurers and patients for any healthcare organisation For accreditation, Hinduja Hospital followed a rigorous process stretching for one year (May 2008 to May 2009) during which more than 500 measurable elements related to the care of patients, management of the hospital, training and education of staff and the continuum of care are tracked and optimised. It involves training, audits (both internal and external) and process optimisation. The hospital underwent two assessment phases in various cardinal areas of functioning in medical, administrative, surgery and quality of equipment to the disposable of bio-medical waste. "A year's efforts of team work culminated in the accreditation," he added.

He further added, "We will now compete with global benchmarks. Accreditation to the hospital translates in continuous improvement and this will help us demonstrate our commitment to quality care."

International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) has accredited 'Standard for Hospitals' developed by NABH which authenticates that NABH standards are in consonance with global benchmarks set by ISQua. NABH accreditation lays approximately 500-plus objectives in patient interest which the hospital has to comply with.

"Hinduja Hospital is an extremely process-driven hospital, where patient benefit is given utmost importance. With many firsts to its credit in terms of medical field, it is proactive in adapting latest technology making the hospital a very doctor and patient friendly hospital," added Lele.
