Nobel Biocare Partners with Manipal University for Certificate Course in Oral Implantology

A one- year certificate course for practitioners, introducing them to the latest technology in oral implantology

Manipal University

Nobel Biocare, a leading player in restorative and aesthetic dentistry, in association with Manipal University, has introduced a one-year certificate course in oral implantology. The course consists of four modules with a duration of six days each. The course, intended for candidates who have passed in BDS from any institution recognised by the Dental Council of India or any equivalent institution, is slated to begin in September 2009. Candidates with MDS degree (from any clinical specialty) are also eligible to apply.

The course is a combination of four contact sessions conducted at Manipal and learning experience at the candidates' own work place in between the sessions. Each batch will have 15 participants, and a minimum of 10 implants in every possible clinical condition will be placed by all the participants. It will give dental professionals hands-on experience with clinical patients under the guidance and supervision of mentors from Nobel Biocare. The course will consist of lectures and training in basic and advanced surgical and prosthetic management. Participants will have hands-on training in 'Application of Laser in Implantology' and exposed to direct and indirect sinus lift and grafting procedures.

Sameer Bhat, Country Manager, Nobel Biocare, said, "We have partnered with several leading dental colleges to impart dental education, considering the huge shortage of dental professionals specialising in implantology in the country. We have played a major role in offering courses in dental implants and metal free aesthetic solutions, which delivers superior treatment benefits and options to dental professionals and their patients."

Said Shobha Tandon, Dean, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, "The association with Nobel Biocare would extend the level of expert training we can provide to dental professionals to cover new ground in dental care and provide thorough clinical exposure for the aspiring dentist. The course is tailored to meet the specific educational needs of a competent dental professional, to train them across the full spectrum of oral implantology."
