Welingkar to Start PGDM in Healthcare Management Programme
Welingkar Institute of Management (WIM), Mumbai has decided
to start a new Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) course in healthcare
management.
Said Dr Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, WIM, "A management
graduate who studies only general functional areas such as marketing, production,
finance will need to develop an appreciation of the healthcare domain to contribute
meaningfully to this sector. Similarly, a health science professional lacks
knowledge and application of management principles. The healthcare programme
bridges the capabilities required to use and apply management principles in
people management, finance, operation, communication and other areas to the
healthcare sector."
The eligibility for the course is MBBs, BDS, BPharm, MPharm,
BEMS, BAMS, BSc (graduates with experience of 1-2 years or freshers), BCom,
BA, BMS (graduates with 1-2 years of experience). The duration of the course
is 11 months.
"Career options after completion of this programme would
be in hospitals, hospital Administration, hospital Planning, hospital marketing
and hospital operations," added Dr Salunkhe.
