ISIC Extends Network for 24x7 Health Line Service for Senior Citizens

The calls to Peace of Mind are being attended by a doctor, who after assessing the problem deputes an ambulance to the patient's residence

'Peace of Mind', a unique 24x7 health line service by Indian Spinal Injuries Centre's (ISIC), has now been extended to other areas of South Delhi namely Vasant Vihar, Munirka Enclave, Kishan Garh, Mahipalpur etc. Earlier, this service was only restricted to the residents of Vasant Kunj. However now, ISIC will also cater to the health concerns of senior citizens in the adjoining areas of Vasant Kunj too.

Said Major HPS Ahluwalia, Chairman, ISIC, "In this fast metropolitan life, not everybody gets the opportunity to get regular health check-ups done, and it is the elderly population which suffers the most. Some times during prolonged sickness and old age, it becomes very difficult for them to visit the doctor/hospital all alone. Peace of Mind - 24x7 Health Line has been designed to cater to the health problems encountered by the senior citizens of South Delhi. "

The calls to Peace of Mind are being attended by a doctor, who after assessing the problem deputes an ambulance to the patient's residence. It also provides services like telephone consultation, medical treatment, blood pressure and sugar monitoring, nursing care and emergency ambulance service.

"These services generally cost between Rs 300-Rs 500 depending on the patient's requirement. Comparatively, it is not only economical, but also more convenient for older people to avail this service as it saves them the trouble of coming to the hospital for minor health problems," said Major Ahluwalia.

This health line facility was launched by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Yoganand Shastri at Vasant Kunj on 3rd Feb 2009. "The healthline service is receiving an overwhelming response from the residents of Vasant Kunj and it gives us tremendous satisfaction when we see senior citizens benefitting from this

service. Since the last 10 years, the number of people living in South Delhi has increased significantly. ISIC which was set up to cater specifically to spinal injuries and allied ailments had to diversify its functioning in order to address the health concerns of residents in and around Vasant Kunj. With a mission to deliver the highest quality of home care everyday for everyone, Peace of Mind exists to restore hope and joy in the heart of every patient," said Major Ahluwalia.

The Peace of Mind unit would now function as a full-fledged emergency care unit providing all the services of a doctor at just a phone call. Based on the telephonic assessment, a team of doctors and paramedical professionals or just the latter would visit the resident and manage the problem. In some cases, a hospital transfer may be required whereas in some other just a tele-consultation may suffice.
