Dr SN Saxena
|
50-years-ago Dr SN Saxena and Dr Tara Saxena, a young newly
married couple with no bank balance to support them, started their practice
in a rented three-room apartment in the main bazaar of a dusty, small, sleep,
backward town of southern Haryana i.e. Rewari in 1959.
They were not to know, that their total dedication to medical profession and
service to needy poor patients will take them to this arduous but satisfying
journey towards building this institution - The Shri Komal Hospital and Dr Saxena
Nursing home, most reliable and dependable hospital of south Haryana.
Philosophy
Today, this multi specialty hospital is well equipped with latest state- of-the-art
equipment and highly qualified team of dedicated doctors and staff. In 1959,
Dr Saxena took loans from private parties to build a 20-bed hospital with small
lab and X-ray plant. Emergencies of all kinds are managed by constant availability
of competent and dedicated doctors, nurses and staff. The ethos of this hospital
is 'Life is too Precious' save it at all costs. Service before self has been
the motto of the pioneers of this institution which has percolated down to next
generation who have joined the line. The philosophy of the hospital is that
no patient should been turned away because he is too poor to pay.
The Entrepreneurs
Dr Saxena has contributed several innovations in community ophthalmology for
which he was unanimously elected President of Haryana Ophthalmology Society
in 1996 - 97.
He has performed more than 50,000 cataract operation in free eye camps in nearby
villages. His capacity for hard work, organising ability and dedication is amply
demonstrated by the fact that starting from a scratch he built up his practice
against all odds and is now a proud owner of one of the best nursing homes in
Haryana. He is a philanthropist and educationist and a social worker of repute.
He was instrumental in organising the unit of IMA, Rewari in 1959. He was charter
Vice President of Lions Club, Rewari and became President in 1979-80 and gave
big thrust to prevention of blindness in South Haryana by organising 75 free
eye camps. He was founder of National Society for Prevention of Blindness (NSPB)
and started checking of school children for vision and eye ailments. He is ably
assisted by his wife Dr Tara Saxena who has brought a sea change amongst the
under privileged and neglected women of this area. It was a daunting the task
but Dr Tara, the first qualified lady Doctor and surgeon of this area did it
with conviction and is a source of inspiration to many women's organizations
which she established in and around Rewari. She is a social worker doctor and
a social activist in her own right. She is Founder President of ROGS branch
of FOGSI and was Ist lady president of IMA, Rewari 1983-84.
Dr Lalit Mohan Saxena, son of SN Saxena joined in 1991 and gave new thrust to
this institution by upgrading the diagnostic i.e. X-Rey, computerised pathology
lab and USG and colour Doppler and Cardiac monitor, pulso oximetres ventilators
etc. He established a tertiary care paediatric nursery with 10 warmers phototherapy
units and a neonatal ICU. He is giving surfactant treatment to premature babies
with RDS and has saved even 700g to 900g babies. He is the only paediatrician
in the region doing exchange transfusion for neonatal jaundice. Previously all
such cases were being referred to Delhi.
In 1995, Dr Saxena's second daughter Dr Mitra Saxena joined along with her husband
Dr Adesh Saxena after their sojourn for eight years in Saudi Arabia. They have
made a second unit of Saxena Group of Hospital by name of Ashwini Saxena Hospital.
Both hospitals are ISO 9001-2008 certified. Dr Lalit is ably assisted by his
wife Dr Ruchi Saxena, who is a gynaecological surgeon and obstetrician.
This year being Golden Jubilee year they started clinic in collaboration with
Max Devki Devi Cardio Vascular Institute Saket, Delhi.
