Global Hospital Hires Top Honchos in Hyderbad & Mumbai

Dr Ravindra Karanjekar from Wockhardt joins Global Hospitals

To fuel its countrywide expansion plans, Hyderabad-based Global Hospitals, a unit of Ravindranath GE Medical Associates (P) Ltd, has hired some top honchos from the healthcare industry in its various units and at the national level.

The group has 500-bed BGS Global Hospital in Bangaluru, 250-bed Global Health City expandable to 1,000 beds in Chennai and three units in Hyderabad-a 150-bed hospital in Lakdi Ka Pul, a 250-bed (expandable to 450 beds) newly opened Aware Global Hospital in LB Nagar and a 50-bed unit in Banjara Hills. It has one under construction 450-bed hospital coming up in Mumbai.

Topping the list of new recruits is the high-profile Dr Ravindra Karanjekar (60), who was working as the Associate VP with Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai. On 20th October, Dr Karanjekar joined as the Group Director, Medical Services of Global Hospitals and CEO of Global Hospital, Mumbai. He would be based in Mumbai. "Commissioning 250 beds in the first phase of the under construction hospital in Mumbai by June 2010 would be my priority now," said Dr Karanjekar. He would also look into medical services, quality, recruitment and training aspects of all the hospitals.

Born in Sangli district of Maharashtra, Dr Karanjekar completed MBBS from BJ Medical College, Pune University and acquired a Diploma in Hospital Administration from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Starting his career in 1986 as an Administrative Officer at MGM Hospital, Mumbai, he worked with Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, Mumbai, Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai, Krishna Heart Institute, Ahmedabad as Chief Administrator, Fortis Heart Institute and Multi-Speciality Hospital at Mohali as Medical Director and Fortis Healthcare, New Delhi as Director, Business Development and DY Patil Hospital as the CEO. In 2005, November, he joined Wockhardt Hospital as the General Manager and rose to become AVP.

Dr PH Mishra (42), who was working with New Delhi-based Indian Spine Injuries Centres as the Medical Superintendent, has joined Global Hospitals on 1st September. He has taken charge as the COO of the Lakdi Ka Pul unit in Hyderabad and the Banjara Hill unit. Starting his career with All India Institute of Medical Sciences, he has worked with organisations like Max Healthcare and Rajeev Gandhi Cancer Hospital, Delhi.

Also, Dr Vishal Goyal (35), who was with Alchemist, Panchkula as Business Head (AVP), has joined as the COO of Aware Global Hospital, Hyderabad. Prior to Alchemist, he has worked as Medical Administrator with hospitals like Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, Sadhu Vaswani Mission's Medical Complex, Pune and Choithram Hospital & Research Centre, Indore.

Satheesh Kumar Nair (37), former Manager - Business Development and Regional Head-South with Hosmac India Private Limited has joined Global Hospital, Hyderabad in the month of August. He has taken over as the Head of Marketing and Business Development of Aware Global Hospital, Hyderabad. He has been associated with some of the leading brands in healthcare—Apollo Hospitals, Chennai; Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences, Kozhikode and Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai.

It is reported that more recruitments at senior level are in place in Chennai and Bangaluru units. After the Mumbai hospital is commissioned, the group has plans of building hospitals in Kolkata and Bhubaneshwar.
