Rockland Starts Construction of Another Hospital

This 60-bed hospital at Dwarka will be the groups' second hospital in Delhi

An artistic impression of the upcoming 60-bed hospital in Dwarka

Delhi-based Rockland Hospitals Limited laid the foundation stone for its multi-specialty hospital at Dwarka in October and started construction. The group plans to establish four more multi specialty hospitals in the National Capital Region (NCR) to provide secondary and tertiary level care. The hospitals are coming up in Manesar, Dwarka, Greater Noida and Sohna.

This 60-bed hospital at Dwarka will be the groups' second hospital in Delhi. The hospital has a built-up area of 20,000 square feet and will be comparatively a smaller hospital. The land has been acquired in an auction from Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

The Rockland Group has already established its brand with one multi specialty hospital, in the Qutub Institutional Area, in South Delhi. Its core competencies are in orthopaedics, oncology, liver and kidney diseases, respiratory, gynaecology and paediatrics and critical care services.

"This facility will be operational by next year," informed Rajesh Srivastava, Chairman, Rockland Group. "The hospital will be connected to the local network of doctors in and around Dwarka as well as in its other hospitals. Our agreement with local general practitioners would utilise this communication network and provide all diagnostics on the GP's desktop," he added.

The hospital aims to provide all OPD and emergency services, life saving, therapeutic and curative secondary care to the general population. "Rockland Hospital services in Delhi will provide its expert backup for tertiary care. We also aim to establish a popular comprehensive preventive health check programe for the neighbouring population," added Srivastava.

At Dwarka, with immediate effect the group has commissioned a clinic locally which will develop preventive health check programmes, general OPD, specified specialist OPDs, routine X-ray, ECG, PFT and TMT, sample collection for all types of laboratory investigations and a 24-hour pharmacy.

The construction of the 250-bed hospital at Manesar began in October 2008. The hospital will be operational by 2010.
