Announcing the Launch of New Accu-Chek® Active
Diabetes monitoring made easy
This
month, an advanced version of the Accu-Chek Active blood glucose meter is being
introduced to the market - the popular choice of millions of satisfied customers.
The new device combines user-friendly handling with a number of premium features.
This will make it much easier for people with diabetes to make sure that their
doctor receives all the data needed for optimal treatment. Notably, the new
Accu-Chek Active system allows to flag blood glucose results before and after
meals. Postprandial values have moved into the spotlight recently due to their
importance in the context of cardio-vascular incidents. To enable the regular
monitoring of these data, the device is particularly easy to handle, comes up
with a modern, ergonomic design, and helps to ensure reliable data at every
measurement. Up to 350 values can be stored within the device and can be displayed
at the next doctor's appointment. Thus, Accu-Chek offers a new generation of
affordable meters facilitating comprehensive diabetes management based on exact
and reliable data.
Ergonomic design for higher acceptance and discrete use
Surveys have shown that more than half of all people with diabetes occasionally
skip measurements, either because they forget, can not afford the test strips,
or because they find it embarrassing to take a measurement in public1. The new
Accu-Chek Active system addresses this concern in a number of ways. Its ergonomic
design makes it so easy to use that people of all ages and levels of technological
proficiency will feel at ease using it. With its big, easy-to-read display and
only two conveniently spaced buttons, the device offers a nearly intuitive look-and-feel,
while the overall appearance allows discrete use in almost any situation.
Reliable results increase user confidence
Many people with diabetes do not trust their measurements entirely, nearly a
third is sometimes unsure whether the figures displayed are really accurate1.
Here, the new Accu-Chek Active system constitutes a huge step towards user confidence.
Its technology allows for reliable results at the first time. To ensure an accurate
reading, the device signals the user if there's not enough blood on the strip
or the strip has expired. Users can even compare the displayed test result with
the color code on the test strip itself to reassure a correct measurement, without
having to use a second strip.* And since accurate results translate into accurate
treatment, an improvement in confidence marks an important step towards optimal
diabetes management.
Detailed data to keep diabetes management on track
In fact, the Accu-Chek Active system now offers functions
to mark and evaluate the pre- and post-meal blood glucose values; the latter
have moved into the focus of attention as a major independent cardiovascular
risk factor over the past years. The new Accu-Chek Active system provides the
option to flag these values of particular importance and thus supports a precise
evaluation of the metabolic situation. Furthermore, the averages of pre- and
post-meal values for the last 7, 14 or 30 days can be retrieved from the meter's
memory and displayed directly on its screen. For a more comprehensive analysis
of the metabolic situation, the Accu-Chek Active meter is compatible with the
Accu-Chek information management solutions. The built-in infrared window supports
a wireless download of collected data to a computer via the Accu-Chek Smart
Pix device reader with no need for any software installation. The new Accu-Chek
Active system is also compatible with the test strips used with the predecessor
model, so a transition to the new device can be made as smoothly as possible.
