Apollo Hospital Group is starting its third project in Easte+rn
India
When
did construction start: Bhoomi pooja was done on December 15, 2007, followed
by construction commencement in January 2008.
Time of commissioning: Soft launch in February 2010.
Promoters: It is Apollo's Group project, and will
be its 45th hospital and a division of AHEL.
Total number of beds: 300 beds.
Number of beds to be commissioned in first phase:
Says V Sathyanarayana Reddy, Chief Executive, Corporate Initiatives, "We
would start with 240 beds as phase-I."
Budget (inclusive of cost of land, construction and equipment):
Rs 120 crore.
Type of investment: Through internal loan.
Any subsidy taken from the Government: No.

tertiary care facility.

Facilities available in the hospital: Centre of Excellence
(COE's) for interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery, neurology and neuro
surgery, orthopaedics, accident and emergency, nephrology and urology and gastroenterology.
The high-end imaging technology include 1.5 Tesla MRI, 64 Slice CT scan, flat
panel cathlab, ultraclean OT, high emphasis for day care procedures, using the
emerging technology for minimal and non-invasive procedures through endoscopy,
laser and ultrasound. It will have well equipped intensive care units for medical,
surgical, cardiac, neurology and neonatal, telemedicine connectivity to satellite
centre, network of hospitals and nursing homes and to Apollo Group Hospital
for consultation, CME's, CNE's and live workshops.
About architecture: Chennai-based architecture. "The
hospital has two open to sky Japan garden for patient and attendants, for a
relaxed environment during the hospital visit/ stay and ICU with windows for
day lighting to enable early patient recovery," says Reddy.
Reason for choosing Bhubaneswar: Gap in high-end tertiary
care facilities.

USP of the project: Dedicated acute and emergency
care, advanced facility for the centre of excellence-cardiology, neurology,
orthopaedic and wellness promotion. And also the fact that it is a division
of Apollo and has provision for addition of more advanced facilities in the
near future with 24 hours pharmacy.
Centrally air-conditioned: Yes.
Total area of the land: 7.5 acres.
Total square feet area of the hospital: Approximately
200,000 square feet.
Number of clinicians and non-clinicians to be hired:
Around 400 employees to start with, including clinical and non clinical staffing.
About Technology that is latest in the area: 1.5 Tesla
MRI, 64 Slice CT Scanner, Flat Panel Cath lab, modular theatres with ultra clean
air guided air flow system.
Environment-friendly measures: Water treatment plant,
Wipro lightings & CFL and green scape outdoor.
Use of IT: Integrated online hospital information
system. Apollo Hospitals BBSR jointly with Health Hiway is implementing the
e-HIS system across the hospital not just to collect, store, retrieve, and transfer
clinical information electronically, but also to link with our Apollo Hospital
at Hyderabad. The e-HIS will integrate the clinical date right from the registration
till the patient gets discharged.
Future plans: To start a nursing and paramedical training
institute and oncology set up. Nursing college will be started by 2010 and oncology
set up by 2011.
