AMRI Hospitals, a joint venture between Emami and Shrachi
Group of Industries, is coming out with a multi-speciality hospital in Bhubaneshwar-
its first project outside Kolkata
Location:
Khandagiri Square, a prime location in Bhubaneswar.
When did construction start: January 2009.
Time of commissioning: August 2010. Both OPD and IPD
would start together.
Promoters: Industrial groups of Kolkata-Emami and
Shrachi.
Existing project(s) of the group: AMRI, Kolkata.
Total number of beds: 300 beds.
Number of beds to be commissioned in first phase:
300-beds.
Budget (inclusive of cost of land, construction and equipment):
Rs120 crore.
Corporate or trust hospital: Corporate.
Single specialty or multi-specialty? Says DN Agarwal, Executive Director, AMRI,
"It is a multi-specialty hospital as Bhubaneswar is in the need of good
multi specialty hospital and we want to offer all services under one roof."
The super-speciality thrust would be on cardiology, orthopaedics and neurology.
Any subsidy taken from the Government: The land was
allotted by Government of Orissa.
About architecture of the hospital: "The hospital
had been designed by Consultant Incorporated Architects plus planners from Singapore.
It is one of the best conceptualised hospital architecture," informs Agarwal.

Reason for choosing Bhubaneshwar: "Our group plans
of setting up hospitals in all capital cities of Eastern India and hence Bhubaneswar
was chosen. The market also demands for a good multi-specialty hospital,"
informs Agarwal.

standards designed by consultants from Singapore.
Centrally air-conditioned: Yes.
Total area of the land: Five acres.
Total square feet area of the hospital: 3,50,000 square
feet.
Environment-friendly measures: Rain water harvesting,
greenery throughout the hospital, solid waste management, biological treatment
of waste water etc.
Use of IT: The hospital will be enabled with the most
updated Hospital Information System, which allows clinical case summaries and
daily case management notes to be paperless. Mobile workstations will be provided
in wards, ICUs and corridors for doctors, nurses' usage and also to view the
radiology reports online through the help of PACS.
Number of clinicians and non-clinicians to be hired:
About 800 persons.
Ways to market it: Through advertisements in local
newspapers, internet, through local doctors etc.
Future plans: To become the largest private healthcare
service provider of Eastern India by setting up more hospitals in Kolkata, Siliguri,
Burdwan and Raipur.
