that has been taken over by Fortis Healthcare Limited

Hospitals Group from Wockhardt Hospitals.

Single specialty or multi-specialty: Super speciality
hospital with core focus on cardiology/ cardiac surgery, urology/nephrology,
neurosciences, orthopaedics, minimal access surgery and critical care. Says

patients in Eastern India is growing rapidly and this hospital aims to fulfill

Reason for choosing to invest in Kolkata: "The
city of Kolkata is amongst the largest metros in the country, however investments
in modern healthcare facilities have happened only over the last decade.
The city is a healthcare destination for not only West Bengal,
but for the entire Eastern region. Besides, several patients from the neighbouring
countries also rely on the facilities in Kolkata. There has been an evolution
in demand from the healthcare consumers in Eastern India and this hospital helps
to bridge this gap," says Bali.
Vision and mission of the hospital: To provide compassionate
patient care through a combination of finest medical skills in an integrated
healthcare delivery system.

Total area of the land: 1.5 acres.
Total square feet area of the hospital: Over three
lakh square feet.
About technology that is latest in the area: From
advanced imaging to state of art operating rooms to patient safety ward management
backed by a PACS network which gives clinicians instant bedside information
the hospital would have unmatched infrastructure in the core specialities.
Environment-friendly measures: The hospital is designed
to be energy efficient and non-polluting and has the latest building management
systems to achieve this. The hospital would harvest rain water and would recycle
water wherever possible.
Use of IT: The hospital would have extensive use of
IT to run all facets of its operations.
Number of clinicians and non-clinicians to be hired:
The hospital would employ about 1,600 persons including about 150 specialist
doctors and 900 nurses, when fully commissioned.
Ways to market it: Still under discussions.
Future plans for the hospital: The hospital would
become functional in early 2010 with about 300 beds and another 150 beds to
be scaled within 30 months of launch.
