Ozone Therapy

Ozone Forum Announces Breakthrough Cure in Diabetic Foot & Spondylitis

"This breakthrough cure can help bring down the number of people suffering from diabetic foot and spondylitis

A breakthrough in curing diabetic foot and spondylitis using ozone therapy may be in the line. Ozone Forum of India has recently stated that they have successfully treated patients with diabetic foot and spondylitis using ozone therapy.

Said Ramesh Chauhan, Chairman, Ozone Forum of India, "This breakthrough cure can help bring down the number of people suffering from diabetic foot and spondylitis, both ailments which affect an individual's day to day functioning. Diabetic foot is the most common problem among diabetic patients and there is a huge risk for foot ulceration leading to amputation. It is the second biggest cause of foot amputation after accidents"

Said Dr Vikram Sheel Kumar of Doctor Kares Hospital in Delhi, "There has been an alarming increase in the number of patients with diabetic foot and spondylitis, especially in the age group 40-55 years, thus affecting productivity." Doctor Kares Hospital is the first place in India to perform ozone discectomy for the treatment of slipped disc.

According to Diabetic Atlas, published by the International Diabetic Federation (IDF), there were an estimated 40 million persons with diabetic foot in India in 2007 and this number is expected to rise to almost 70 million people by 2025.

Speaking about this breakthrough treatment, Dr Daval Modi of Bombay Hospital, said, "Ozone therapy has been successfully used to treat diabetic foot and spondylitis. The treatment is given using Ozone (O3), converted from pure medical grade Oxygen (O2)."

Medical ozone is an Ozone-Oxygen gas mixture. According to the application and indication, Ozone concentration in the mixture ranges from 1 to 100 mcg/ml, (0.05 per cent and 5 per cent Ozone), rest is Oxygen. An Ozone molecule is unstable. Within 20 minutes only half of the original Ozone remains, the rest becomes oxygen. Increase in temperature decreases its half life. Therefore it is always freshly prepared on site (in a special generator) for immediate administration.

Ozone treatment improves glycemic control, prevents oxidative stress, normalises levels of organic peroxides, and activates superoxide dismutase. The ozone therapist, a trained physician, determines the dosage, according to the medical indication and the patient's condition.
