Asia's first and the world's second LEED Platinum rated hospital
under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building
Rating System, Kohinoor Hospital, a multi-specialty hospital, located at Kohinoor
City, Mumbai was inaugurated recently by Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ashok
Chavan. Kohinoor City is Kohinoor's ambitious project, which will be a complete
township with residential and commercial buildings, an educational complex,
mall, hotel, state-of-art auditorium and hospital.
The LEED India Platinum plaque was presented to Kohinoor Group CMD Unmesh Joshi
during the ceremony in the presence of Kohinoor Group Founder Manohar Joshi
and Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Chairman Dr Prem Jain and other dignitaries.
Kohinoor Hospital is a multi-specialty hospital equipped with world-class medical
equipment and technology. Spread over an area of approximately two lakh square
feet, it is a ground-plus-five-storey building with two basements. Its team
of highly qualified expert consultant doctors is supported by well-qualified
and skilled nurses, paramedics and administration team.
Kohinoor Hospital has used the best available expertise and resources to develop
highly specialised units in the following specialties: cardiology & cardio-thoracic
surgery, orthopaedics & joint replacements, rheumatology, spine surgery.
neurology & neurosurgery, general, minimally invasive & bariatric surgery.
internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, gastroenterology, obstetrics & gynaecology,
endocrinology, haematology and nephrology, urology, paediatrics & neonatology,
oncology & onco-surgery. ENT, critical care, ophthalmology, plastic &
reconstructive surgery, oral & maxillofacial surgery, dental surgery and
cosmetic dentistry. The hospital has more than 15 outpatient clinics, four well-equipped
operation theatres, 27-bed SICU/ ICCU, well-equipped six-bed NICU, six-bed dialysis
unit, custom-designed LDRP suite, cardiac catheterisation lab, blood bank &
pathology lab, round-the-clock radiology and imaging with CT/MRI Scan, cardiac
diagnostics, 2D Echo/Stress, Colour Doppler, PFT and 24-hour pharmacy.
As a 'green building', the hospital is designed to use resources like energy,
water, materials and land much more efficiently than normal buildings. Additionally,
with more natural light and better air quality, it will contribute to improved
employee and public health, comfort and productivity. There are special carbon
dioxide sensors which automatically trigger injection of fresh air in the hospital
premises when the carbon dioxide exceeds a certain level to ensure that patients
and all entrants to the hospital are constantly exposed to a clean healthy environment.
Says Unmesh Joshi, CMD, Kohinoor, "Green is the way to go for all future

by achieving the highest LEED rating for it the Platinum rating."
