Pan Cancer Marker Test Launched

Gur Diagno, a diagnostic company based in India, has recently launched pan cancer marker. The test has been designed by AMDL Inc, a US-based bio-pharmaceutical company and its brand name is Onko-sure.

Said Raman Poonchhi, Director, Gaur Diagno, "Onko-sure is the only test in the world which can detect all kind of cancers. With a single blood draw, the presence, if any, of any of the 13 different types of cancer can be detected in the body- lung, breast, stomach, liver, colon, rectal, ovarian, esophageal, cervical, trophoblastic, thyroid, malignant, lymphoma and pancreatic."

Onko-sure measures the amount of Fibrin Degradation Products (FDP) in the patient's serum. The production of FDP is restricted in healthy individuals, but it is overproduced by enzymes released by cancer cells, and as a by-product of cancer related processes. It has been reported that FDP levels are increased in the body above the normal level, even during the early stages of cancer, when the symptoms usually are not visible; therefore, this test can even be done on those people with a family history of cancer, or those who are alcohol or tobacco consumers.

It is also the only IVD test for lung cancer and quickly detects a reoccurrence of cancer after treatment and during remission, thus a useful tool for monitoring of cancer. "Onko-sure is the only approved FDP test for cancer detection and is a result of about more than 40 years of AMDL Inc research. Its effectiveness has been determined by clinical trials conducted in many parts of the world like USA, Canada, South Korea, Taiwan and Europe, where it is being used successfully in," he added.
