Super-speciality Hospital Inaugurated at Barasat

Jubilant First Trust Healthcare is in the process of setting up an integrated network of hub-and-spoke hospitals in the state

Kolkata-based Jubilant First Trust Healthcare Limited, a subsidiary of pharma-major Jubilant Organosys Ltd, recently opened the doors of Jubilant Kalpataru Hospital, a 120-bed super-speciality hospital at Barasat, on the outskirts of Kolkata. Pranab Mukherjee, the Union Finance Minister and Dr Surjya Kanta Mishra, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, were present on the occasion.

Jubilant First Trust Healthcare Ltd, based at Kolkata, is driving the healthcare initiative of Jubilant Organosys. With an endeavour to create an affordable, world class healthcare delivery system for the middle and lower income-group people, living across West Bengal, including the districts and villages, Jubilant First Trust Healthcare is in the process of setting up an integrated network of hub-and-spoke hospitals in the state. The company plans to create a total capacity of 1,000 beds across seven hospitals and two nursing schools/college with a total investment of Rs 180 crore.

Set up in Barasat, the hospital is just half an hour's journey from Kolkata International Airport. It has facilities for 24 hour-trauma and critical care (ICU), Neonatal and Paediatric Critical Care Units; Neonatal & Paediatric Surgery, High-risk Pregnancy Management, Joint Replacement & Arthroscopic Surgery, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, including Colo-rectal Surgery facilities, a Burn Unit and Speciality Medicine Units for Gastroenterology, Chest Medicine, Haematology, Nephrology & Dialysis. Speciality Surgery - Urology, Plastic & Microvascular.

The hospital has a multi-disciplinary team of full-time doctors in all major specialties. Jubilant Kalpataru Hospital has a 10-bed burn unit, the only private sector burn unit in West Bengal which is well equipped to offer quality treatment to patients. It also has the only cleft care unit in India; a joint initiative with Operation Smile, an NGO dedicated to the care of poor children with cleft lip and palate. The hospital aims at offering services to the poor children from villages free of cost. Leading Jubilant Kalpataru is a team of five senior doctors, trained in the UK and the US with over 15 years of experience.

The Group also manages a 50-bed hospital, Rabindranath Thakur Diagnostic & Medical Care Centre, under Public-Private-Partnership with the Government of West Bengal at Berhampore, Murshidabad, about 200 kilometeres from Kolkata. The company is also in the process of setting up a 400- bed hub at Howrah and other spokes at Krishnanagar, Kharagpur, Burdwan and Mankundu.
