ExpansionUpdate

Indus Health Plus Plans to Enter South

Pune-based Indus Health Plus, which sells preventive health packages through tie-ups with hospitals and diagnostic centres, is further strengthening its network. On an expansion spree, it had rammed up tie-ups with diagnostic centres and hospitals from eight in 2008 to 23 in 2009 spread across 12 cities. So far, it has sold 1.75 lakh health packages.

Said Amol Naikawadi, Joint Managing Director, Indus Health Plus "We are also looking at consolidating our presence in the cities where we are already present. We will be looking at further expansion in the Northern region and would also make entry to South India where we see a huge potential. We have identified reputed medical establishments in these areas where we propose to expand our services."

As of now, Indus has partnered with reputed medical establishments in Pune, Nagpur, Mumbai, Delhi, Goa, Bhilai, Ahmednagar, Solapur, Karad, Nashik and Latu and Jalgaon. In Maharashtra, it has presence in seven districts and looking at foraying in other cities. It seems tests related to heart are picking up more now than even before.

Asked why it's focusing only on preventive healthcare, Naikawadi said, "The cost of critical healthcare is incalculable. Besides the extremely high cost of treatment, there is added stress on finances, family, job and health. Fatal or life threatening diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart trouble etc have best chances of cure if detected and treated at an early stage. Thus our focus was mainly to educate and create awareness in the society about the importance of preventive health check-ups so that one can detect any life- threatening disease and corrective and timely action can be taken."
