and thereby enhances the level of patient care

Telerad Tech, an innovative new company in the healthcare
IT space started by Telerad Solutions, recently launched RADSpa, its next generation
radiology platform. Telerad Tech has partnered with Ashva Technology, a Chennai-based
company, in developing this revolutionary product. The platform was showcased
earlier at the Annual Meeting of the Radiologic Society of North America (RSNA
2009), held in November in Chicago.
RADSpa is a web-hosted radiology platform that can be accessed from anywhere
in the world by radiologists, physicians, technicians and hospital administrators.
Its main role is to optimise the functioning of radiologists and increase the
efficiency of the process of interpretation and analysis of X-ray, ultrasound,
CAT scan and MRI images.
Given the global shortage of specialist radiologists to interpret lifesaving
diagnostic images, and spiralling healthcare costs, a workflow tool like RADspa
is of critical importance in today's environment. It reduces costs, improves
the quality of diagnosis and thereby enhances the level of patient care.
As RADSpa is a web-based platform, it allows for teleradiology, a revolutionary
process wherein scan images can be transferred across the globe, so that a scan
performed in Boston can be interpreted within minutes by a radiologist in Bangaluru.
This allows for immediate diagnosis in the high-risk emergency setting.
"It is our mission to develop technologies that improve workflow within
the healthcare organisation," said Ricky Bedi, CEO of Telerad Tech, which
has Telerad offices in the USA and India.
Diagnostic efficiency, accuracy and reliable patient care can only be achieved
with seamless collaboration and communication between radiologists, technologists,
physicians and other stakeholders, as is provided by the RADSpa platform, said
Bedi.
The RADspa platform is a fully-integrated RIS and PACS platform. Its key differentiators
are an intuitive and customisable work-flow for the radiologist, automated work-flow
for multi-site, multi-modality radiology and tele-radiology reads, automated
re-conciliation of order and images ensuring data-integrity, and collaboration
eco-system to communicate with peer radiologist, physician or MT in real-time.
Collaboration supports real-time sharing of images and work sessions, audio
and messaging. In addition, the platform has an intelligent auto scheduler to
do auto assignment of studies to radiologists based on their specialty and sub-speciality.
This feature not only enhances the productivity of the radiologist, but also
results in reducing reporting times resulting in improved quality of care.
