Foundation Stone Laid for Education Complex at Gulbarga

Pranab Mukherjee, Union Minister of Finance, recently laid the foundation stone for ultra-modern ESIC Medical Education Complex at Gulbarga in Karnataka. Mallikarjun Kharge, Union Minister of Labour and Employment, presided over the function and BS Yediyurappa, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Government of Karnataka was the Chief Guest.

The ESIC Medical Education Complex at Gulbarga is being constructed on 30.4-acre plot at a cost of Rs 790 crore. The complex will house ESIC medical college, dental college and nursing college and a 500-bed super specialty ESIC hospital. This will provide medical education and super specialty healthcare facility to the ESIC beneficiaries coming under the jurisdiction of Gulbarga division.

The medical college will have 100 MBBS seats, the dental college will have 50 BDS seats and the nursing college will have 40 students annually. This medical college and hospital will also have the state-of-art design and facilities comparable to any other medical college in the country. The hospital building will have eight floors and the medical college building will have six floors. The hospital will have 12 types of ultra modern wards which will include ICUs/ICCUs etc. There will be facilities for super specialty treatment like that of related to neurology, cardiology etc. There will be 12 OTs, including two emergency OTs and two maternity OTs.

The building will have a major lobby and advance waiting area which will have adequate capacity for all kind of patients with state-of-art facilities like water dispensers, coffee/tea machines, infotainment facilities etc. The building will also have an auditorium, hostels for students, accommodation for faculty members, community centre and a guest house for patients' relatives. This complex will be built on the basis of green building concept. In short, this medical education complex will be a little self-sufficient medical township in itself.
