Hinduja Hospital Celebrates its Diamond Jubilee

A photo exhibition on the sidelines provided a glimpse of the 60-year journey of the institution

Hinduja Hospital commenced its diamond jubilee celebrations by organising a medical camp in Mumbai for elderly residents living in the immediate vicinity of the hospital on December 10-11, 2011. The free medical camp was held in a neighbourhood garden and included extensive diagnostic tests followed by consultations by senior doctors.

Subodh Kumar, Municipal Commissioner, Mumbai inaugurated the camp and complimented the institution for its good work.

Chairman, S P Hinduja was deeply interested in the photo gallery and shared anecdotes from the past.

Speaking on the occasion, he said “60 years ago our father, P D Hinduja, started this hospital to provide affordable, quality healthcare for all. I am proud to see the Hinduja Hospital parivaar of trustees, management, doctors, nurses and staff working with full dedication to live upto his vision.”

A P Hinduja, Trustee, felicitated the chief guest and said, “Hinduja Hospital is like a temple for our family. It is a matter of great satisfaction for us to see that 60 years on this institution is operating according to his belief that health and education are the fundamental rights of every citizen.”

Nagesh Kini, an active senior citizen from the vicinity, complimented the hospital for its positive role and ‘community connect’ initiatives. He pointed out that the health check would have cost an individual substantially otherwise.

Old images in the photo gallery caught the interest of all visitors. The photographs covered a wide spectrum of subjects, with which the hospital was associated over the past six decades including people, celebrities and events like Bhuj earth quake, visit of Rajiv Gandhi and Dalai Lama just to name a few.

Pramod H Lele, CEO, Hinduja Hospital said, “It is our belief that a healthcare institution has to become part of the life of the community it serves. We also wanted to stress upon preventive health and hence chose the free medical camp to kick off the celebrations.”
