CT
Fest 2011: Focussing the Chest and Abdominal Imaging
The field of Computed Tomography (CT) continues to grow, both
in clinical applications and technology. The speed with which
the CT technology is changing is noteworthy. For example,
in the 1990s, a patient had to remain in a CT gantry for a
period of approximately 10 minutes for a chest CT, whereas
now it takes few seconds to scan the entire chest. Apart from
increased speed, new developments in CT technology has provided
radiologists with the ability to examine the structure of
the human body in detail, which was not previously possible.
Moreover, CT is the major contributor of growth in the medical
imaging industry of India. In view of this fact, Maharashtra
State Branch of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association
(MSBIRIA) is organising its first scientific programme on
body imaging CT (CT Fest 2011). Dr Sanjeev Mani, Programme
Co-ordinator, CT Fest 2011 talks about the event in an interaction

Systems Simplify Workflow
The Indian radiology field is currently going through a phase
of transformation. The best example of this is the shift from
analog film/screen radiography systems to film-less Digital
Radiology (DR) systems. This transition from analog to DR
is due to the increased demand for higher resolution diagnostic
imaging that too within a small time frame. With a similar
purpose in mind, Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune's leading hospital
has installed the cutting edge DRX-Evolution System from Carestream
Health India. This versatile, compact fully automatic unit
is the first installation in South East Asia. Dr Avinash Nanivadekar,
