Ahmedabad Set for IRIA

Not just radiologists, but nuclear medicine specialist, technicians and clinicians from various medical societies are coming to the congress

Ahmedabad, the textile city of India, is gearing up to host the most talked about event of the year, the 63rd annual conference of Indian Radiology & Imaging Association (IRIA) from 23rd-26th of January, 2010, which will be hosted by Radiology & Imaging Association- Gujarat Chapter.

The scientific committee under the chairmanship of Dr Hemant Patil for IRIA 2010 is leaving no stone unturned to make the event bigger and better. The 'Indian Radiological Association' was founded in 1931 in Calcutta, from where its journey has been unstoppable till date, when it boasts of around 10,000 members. This annual conference is said to be the most sought after event by all the stakeholders in the field of medicine.

The Programmes

Radiology & Imaging Association - Gujarat Chapter is making arrangements for excellent scientific sessions, gala social events and rich culture festvities. The scientific programme includes workshops, orations, symposia, paper presentations, CME, and guest lectures by renowned international and national faculties.

Not just radiologists, but nuclear medicine specialist, technicians and clinicians from various medical societies are coming to the congress.

23rd January, the first day of the conference will have ICR lectures and orations, workshops on topics like cardiac CT, breast imaging, imaging radiology, foetal imaging, MSK radiology and interventional radiology. On 24th of January, the day will be packed with IRIA orations and brain stimulating sessions and workshops color doppler, advanced neuroimaging, PET CT, neuro radiology lectures. There will be 48 lectures on diverse range of topics including broad spectrum of radiology, GIT, recent advances in imaging and intervention, emergency radiology, common clinical problems and advanced imaging. On 25th January, there will be 62 lectures and 48 paper presentations on topics like GIT & Hepatobiliary, obs & gynecology, Doppler, intervention, oncoimaging, advanced neuroimaging, cardiac imaging, MSK imaging, chest imaging, GU radiology , recent advances, physics and contrast media, nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. On 26th January, there will be 44 lectures and 96 paper presentations on topics like breast imaging, radiology- core of healthcare, multifaceted radiology, head and neck imaging and non invasive vascular imaging.

Trade exhibitors from various companies are looking forward to showcase their products during IRIA 2010. Workshops comprising international and national experts shall be 'topic-specific' and it will include clinical discussions and hand-on-processing workstation experience about topics like: Cardiac CT, Breast Imaging, Interventional Radiology, Foetal Imaging, MSK radiology, Interventional Radiology, Color Doppler, Advanced Neuroimaging and PET-CT. International speakers are coming from all over the globe including the US, the UK, the Middle East, China, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Big giants like GE, Philips, BPL, Sanrad, Toshiba will be displaying their latest technology radiology products in the trade show.

The trade exhibition will take place under the complete air-conditioned exhibition area. Entire area will be carpeted with all facilities provided to the exhibitors like power, spot lights, octonorm table and chairs, stalls white octonorm laminated panels with facia and specially designed cafeteria. The trade area is divided into two separate areas considering the size of the stalls. The stalls area of five basic categories in terms of size - 50x50 sq. ft., 52x20 sq. ft., 26x20 sq. ft., 20x16 sq. ft. and 10x10 sq. ft. We are introducing Trade Expo cards for the delegates so that when they visit exhibits, it is easy for Trade Participants to maintain database of visitors at individual booths.

This year we are planning to spread the message of 'Save the Girl Child'. All radiologists will pass this message to the society against sex determination during pregnancy. A 'Beti Bachao' walk is being organized on 24th January for public awareness.

Highlights of the Conference

  • IRIA 2010 will provide common platform for radiologist and students from sub-specialities to come together and share the knowledge and views.
  • One day PET-CT workshop, comprising international and national experts, the workshop shall be 'topic specific' and it will include clinical discussions and hand-on-processing workstation experience.
  • The conference will provide equal importance to the old, as well as recent developing diagonostic and therapeutic techniques.
  • It will give equal opportunities to the students and senior speakers.
  • Special work shop will be held on digital mammography and advances in ultrasonography.
  • Hands on training for different workstations will be arranged to get acquaninted with newer advanced processing techniques.
  • The conference is introducing education exhibits in IRIA this year. There will be approximately fifty computer displays.
  • IRIA is first time introducing online abstract system for scientific paper and poster register yourself.

Ahmedabad is the commercial capital of most happening vibrant state in India, Gujarat. The city is a fascinating blend of history, culture, adventure and modernisation. The conference is talking place at Karnavati Club, Located on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Six lane highway (the most happening area of Ahmedabad). The club is spread over 500,000 sq. ft. of luxuriously developed area. It is strategically located within easily commutable distance from the Airport and Railway station.
