Nova Specialty Surgery hosted a patient awareness workshop on obesity and bariatric surgery recently in Tardeo, Mumbai. This workshop was designed by renowned bariatric surgeon Dr Raman Goel to address the needs of the patients who have undergone bariatric surgery or those considering surgery.
The workshop reportedly focused on the variety of topics like post surgery weight lost strategies, misconceptions about surgery, medication myths, surgical and nutritional myths. With an aim to help each patient achieve his or her healthy weight and lifestyle goals, post-surgery issues including motivation, challenging negative and self-sabotaging behaviors, body image, depression, addiction issues were addressed in the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Ramen Goel, Sr Consultant, Nova Specialty Surgery said, “I am excited about the opportunity and hope it will serve as an encouraging outlet for patients in the fight against obesity.” He added, “such patient support groups provide an inclusive opportunity to patients to acquire in-depth information on the surgery and allow them to share ideas with fellow patients to surpass the challenges in reaching their weight loss goals”.
The workshop provided patients an opportunity to meet the surgeon and have their questions answered in an open forum. Participants gained insightful information, tips and guidelines for long-term success following bariatric surgery.
