PhotoMedex launches VTRAC certified clinics for vitiligo and psoriasis patients

PhotoMedex, a pioneer in patient advocacy for vitiligo and psoriasis therapy, announced the launch of VTRAC Live Clear. Live Free. campaign, through the establishment of its certified clinics starting at Hyderabad. The launch of this advanced technology aims at redefining the patient experience for the millions suffering from these chronic conditions through a direct-to-consumer and physician programme.

A local call centre staffed with treatment specialists providing answers to questions on VTRAC therapy and expediting appointments with physicians, will also be set up as a part of the venture. The VTRAC website is designed to serve as a patient and physician resource as well.

According to market studies, an estimated of 4.4-6.5 per cent of the Indian population have vitiligo or psoriasis. Although there is no cure, those with vitiligo can be treated successfully with VTRAC, the treatment offers up to 95 per cent re-pigmentation.

PhotoMedex’s Live Clear. Live Free. Campaign aims at introducing a technologically advanced treatment procedure, and involves educating the patient about vitiligo and psoriasis. The effectiveness of PhotoMedex’s VTRAC treatment also aims at helping them regain normalcy in their day-to-day lives. PhotoMedex is also involved in training and knowledge sharing with the physicians to create augmented awareness about the disease, while making this effective treatment more readily available.

“Millions face the daily burden of living with vitiligo or psoriasis,” said Dr Dolev Rafaeli, PhotoMedex CEO. “Our marketing efforts fully reinforce our commitment to advocating better treatment options and accessibility. We believe our certified VTRAC clinics hold the potential to transform vitiligo and psoriasis patient care. There’s a growing demand for effective and long lasting treatment for both vitiligo and psoriasis in the Indian market that holds exceptional promise for VTRAC clinics and direct-to-consumer activity.”

Ratan Jalan, Founder, Medium Healthcare Consulting, said, “With the launch of VTRAC certified clinics, PhotoMedex’s endeavour of supporting direct-to-consumer healthcare platform reaches an all-new level. It is a unique model that is not only focused on the treatment but alsopatient education. We are committed to providing sustained support to PhotoMedex in their endeavour to reach out to more physicians with this trailblazing technology and continue closing the gap between advancements and availability of cutting-edge technology.”

“As physicians, we want to give better, personalised medical care; there is the option of sending patients to hospitals or other clinics for treatments, but that inconveniences them,” said Dr Niteen V Dhepe MD, FAAD, Medical Director, SkinCity, The Postgraduate Institute of Dermatology, Pune and PhotoMedex’s India Key Opinion Leader. “After performing thousands of treatments with the VTRAC, I can say it makes a significant impact and enables me to offer better customer service and clinical outcomes to my patients, as well as generates an additional revenue stream. For those with vitiligo, excimer therapy offers a distinctly superior therapeutic option with respect to onset of pigment, disease stabilisation, match of colour with surrounding and stability of repigmentation once it occurs.”

Dr Dhepe, was one of the physicians who sourced the VTRAC device in the past and now as PhotoMedex’s KOL has decided to join the VTRAC clinic program with an additional device

PhotoMedex’s support of practices that administer the VTRAC excimer therapy to a new level. The campaign drives awareness of the standard of care for vitiligo and psoriasis, attracting physicians of the dermatology discipline nationwide.
