Vinegar to conquer cervical cancer

A group of scientists have developed an inexpensive yet reportedly very effective test to screen and detect cervical cancer. It is supposedly a test that can be done with minimal training and without the need for any specialised equipment. The test is done by using swabbing the cervix with vinegar. Apparently the cells which are affected change colour and reveals the results within minutes.

The test was conducted on 150,000 women living in the slums of Mumbai and the study revealed that the test helped to reduce cervical cancer in the area by over 31 per cent. Thus, the test is being touted as something that would save several lives.

Dr Ted Trimble of the National Cancer Institute in the US is the main sponsor of the study.
