Align Technology plans Rs 1800 crore manufacturing facility in Hyderabad

Proposed India facility to create over 300 jobs and expand clear aligner production capacity

Align Technology has announced plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad with a proposed investment of around Rs 1800 crore. The facility would be the company’s first manufacturing site in India and its fourth globally. The project is expected to create more than 300 direct jobs over the next several years.

Align Technology designs, manufactures, and sells the Invisalign System of clear aligners, iTero intraoral scanners and services, and exocad CAD/CAM software for digital orthodontics and restorative dentistry. The proposed facility is expected to further strengthen Telangana’s position in advanced manufacturing and MedTech.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Jitse Marree, Senior Vice President, on behalf of Align Technology, and Sarvesh Singh, CEO, Telangana Life Sciences, on behalf of the Government of Telangana. Senior leadership from Align Technology also met Duddilla Sridhar Babu to discuss the company’s plans to establish the proposed manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, along with discussions around talent availability, industrial infrastructure, and the policy environment.

The proposed facility has the potential to become a global manufacturing and operations hub for the company and contribute to its worldwide production capacity of nearly ten lakh unique clear aligner parts per day. The facility is expected to operate through large-scale 3D printing, manufacturing systems, and digital technologies, and contribute to Telangana’s MedTech and precision manufacturing ecosystem.

Welcoming the development, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, Industries & Commerce, and Legislative Affairs, Government of Telangana said, “Align Technology’s decision to plan its India manufacturing presence in Telangana reflects the growing global confidence in our state’s strengths across MedTech, life sciences, precision manufacturing, and healthcare innovation. Hyderabad has steadily evolved into one of the world’s leading life sciences and healthcare ecosystems, supported by world-class research institutions, advanced manufacturing capabilities, strong digital infrastructure, and a highly skilled talent base. From vaccines and biotechnology to medical devices and next-generation healthcare technologies, Telangana today offers a complete ecosystem for global companies looking to innovate and manufacture at scale. This investment further strengthens Hyderabad’s position as a global hub for advanced healthcare and MedTech manufacturing.”

The Hyderabad facility is expected to commence operations in 2027. The investment adds to Align Technology’s existing presence in Hyderabad, which includes its GCC, the Align Innovation Center (AIC).

The company stated that the project is expected to support Hyderabad’s position in MedTech, precision healthcare manufacturing, and engineering-driven industries. The facility is also expected to contribute to innovation, manufacturing capabilities, and opportunities for skilled talent and ancillary industries in the region.
