Amplitude Surgical (Amplitude), a wholly owned subsidiary of Zydus MedTech France SAS, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zydus Lifesciences, announced that its proprietary robotic surgical system “Andy” has received CE mark approval. The certification confirms compliance with European standards for safety, performance, and quality.
‘Andy’ is built with Amplitude’s proprietary navigation platform, Amplivision. The CE-marked solution integrates Amplitude’s navigation technology with robotic assistance, developed through a strategic collaboration with eCential Robotics.
Speaking on this development, Dr. Sharvil P. Patel, Managing Director, Zydus Lifesciences Ltd., said, “This milestone reflects our commitment to innovation that is both patient-centric and future-ready. Andy represents a convergence of science, healthcare, and technology. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Amplitude R&D team for their unwavering dedication and scientific excellence in bringing this breakthrough to life.”
The Andy robotic surgical system represents an advancement in orthopaedic surgery. Conceived as a collaborative robot, Andy is built on proprietary technology capable of performing bone resections with precision and reliability. The system aims to empower surgeons with greater confidence in the operating room and sets a new benchmark for robot-assisted procedures across Europe.
Andy delivers accuracy and consistency, enabling optimal alignment while minimising tissue trauma, which is intended to result in smaller incisions, reduced pain, faster recovery, and fewer complications. The system also aims to enhance knee function, shorten hospital stays, and ensure long-term implant performance.
Earlier this year, Zydus MedTech expanded its global presence with the strategic acquisition of Amplitude Surgical, a European MedTech company specialising in lower-limb orthopaedic technologies. This acquisition strengthens Zydus MedTech’s focus on delivering advanced, patient-focused solutions through research, design innovation, and precision engineering.
