Apollo Health & Lifestyle (Apollo), a wholly owned subsidiary of Apollo Hospital Enterprise and Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare (Ramsay) announced a collaboration to offer world class diabetes care to people of Malaysia. This partnership is aimed at reducing the burden of disease for the people of Malaysia.
The strategic intent is to start these services in Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care owned hospitals, and expand across neighbourhood clinics. They also aim to work closely with local communities to improve screening, early detection, awareness and management of diabetes amongst the general population.
Commenting on the partnership, Suneeta Reddy, MD, Apollo Hospitals, and Chairperson, Apollo Health & Lifestyle, said, “At Apollo, we understand the increasing burden of diabetes and its tremendous impact on society. We have built strong expertise in delivering care for diabetics through an evidence based model that combines clinical care with lifestyle interventions, with multiple touch points over time resulting in better outcomes for the diabetic. The programme covers both diabetes treatment and also prevention and treatment of all complications of diabetes. Our programs are aimed at enabling diabetics lead a normal life. Across India we deliver care to over 200,000 diabetic patients through nearly 100 clinics (Apollo Clinics and Apollo Sugar Clinics). We are delighted to partner with Ramsay to bring our expertise to care for diabetic patients in Malaysia. We aim to help them lead a disease free lifestyle, and avoid the havoc that Diabetes and its complications can cause on them and their families”.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jacob Thomas, Chairman, Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care, said “This partnership with Apollo represents a significant milestone for our two leading care delivery organisations to come together to provide world class, evidence based care to people with diabetes across Malaysia. We will begin this collaboration with a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence to be set up in Subang Jaya Medical Centre, our flagship hospital. This centre would offer a full range of world class outpatient, inpatient, and a comprehensive set of supporting services to address Diabetes. This centre would be named Apollo Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care Centre for obesity, diabetes and endocrinology (ARCODE).”
