AXA SOLIMED supports Community Hospital of Khimsar, Rajasthan

To provide medical equipment to the community health centre

AXA SOLIMED, (Solidarity Medical) will be providing equipment to a community health centre in Khimsar, India. The programme, which restores unused or discarded equipment from hospitals across the world, aims to help over 130,000 people across 50 villages in the local area.

Reportedly, the official launch of the programme in India would take place on February 10, 2016, in the presence of English and French AXA SOLIMED representatives from AXA and AXA Assistance; Gajendra Singh, Minister for Industry and Sport, Government of Rajasthan; Rajendra Rathore, Minister for Health, Government of Rajasthan and the local leaders of all villages around Khimsar.
Medical equipment that has been acquired through the fundraising efforts of AXA’s employees around the globe includes a digital X-ray machine, ultra sound ECG machine, cardiac monitor, incubator, and a vital ambulance which will vastly improve the access to medical care for the areas surrounding the medical centre. A nurse from AXA will support the healthcare professionals with the installation and the equipment training. Many of the patients of the community hospital are women and new-born children so, in addition to providing this vital equipment, AXA employees have been raising funds to employ a midwife for the centre on an ongoing basis; making a big difference to the lives of the people it serves, informs a company release.

Serge Morelli, Chairman and CEO of AXA Assistance, said, “Within AXA, our job is to protect and look after our customers, and it is only natural that we extend the same concern to others. Our values and mind-set drive us to move beyond our professional role and use our expertise and logistical resources to support wider social solidarity initiatives.”

Mike Kellard, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer for AXA UK and Ireland, said, “Having seen the difference that the AXA SOLIMED programme has already made to the lives of people around the world, I am thrilled that AXA colleagues in the UK, France and India have come together once again to support this community. I am sure it will make a valuable contribution for years to come.”

Dr JK Saini, Director of the Community Hospital of Khimsar, said, “We are excited that AXA is bringing the SOLIMED project to India. It will change the way we practice medicine here and change the lives of many people.”
