Canadian International School, Bangalore (CIS), in association with the Terry Fox Foundation, will host the Terry Fox Run on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at its campus in Yelahanka. The run will begin at the CIS campus, move around the Manchenahalli lake in Yelahanka, and conclude at CIS.
The Terry Fox Run is a non-competitive, global charity event held in memory of Canadian cancer research activist Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope. Hundreds of participants from schools, colleges, and organisations across Bangalore are expected to take part in this 5k run.
Canadian International School has hosted the Bangalore chapter of the Terry Fox Run, and this year marks the 15th year of the event. The school aims to raise around ₹25 lakhs in support of cancer research at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, with all proceeds going towards cancer research in India.
The event is open to all, including students, teachers, parents, and guests from across the city. Participants can walk, jog, cycle, skate, or run at their own pace. Registration is free, and contributions can be made to cancer research through online donations to the Terry Fox Foundation or by purchasing an official TFR T-shirt.
“This event is a celebration of Terry’s extraordinary legacy and a reaffirmation of CIS’ commitment to the fight against cancer. It brings our community together with a shared purpose, working towards a cancer-free tomorrow. Each year, we witness students, parents, educators, and friends stand shoulder to shoulder for this cause, a reminder that collective action can make a lasting impact. Our goal at CIS is not just to raise funds, but to inspire hope and resilience in the face of adversity, just as Terry did,” said Shweta Sastri, Managing Director, Canadian International School.
The Terry Fox Run is inspired by Terry Fox, who in 1980 embarked on the Marathon of Hope, running a marathon a day across Canada with a prosthetic leg to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. His journey continues to inspire millions worldwide to support the fight against cancer.
