CARPL.ai, a radiology AI marketplace and enterprise platform, has raised USD 10 million in a Series A funding round led by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, with participation from Stellaris Venture Partners and other investors. The company said the funding will support its efforts to help healthcare providers adopt artificial intelligence (AI) across clinical workflows.
According to the company, CARPL.ai is used by healthcare organisations, including four of the world’s top five private radiology groups, and by governments in Brazil, India, Singapore, Spain and the UAE.
The company stated that medical imaging generates more than 80 per cent of healthcare data, while imaging demand continues to outpace radiologist capacity. It noted that although more than 1,000 US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared radiology AI applications are available, adoption remains fragmented as healthcare organisations are required to evaluate, integrate and monitor multiple standalone AI products independently. According to the company, this creates operational and IT complexity due to the absence of a unified governance framework.
Through a single integration, CARPL.ai provides healthcare providers with access to more than 300 AI applications from over 100 partners through its radiology AI marketplace. The platform also enables customers to build, test, deploy and monitor AI across clinical workflows while remaining vendor-neutral and infrastructure-agnostic.
According to the company, the investment will support product development, expansion of its global partner ecosystem and commercial growth across North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and emerging markets. The company added that the partnership also focuses on developing engineering, product development and AI capabilities in India for deployment across healthcare providers globally.
Commenting on the funding, Dr Vidur Mahajan, Chief Executive Officer of CARPL.ai, said, “Our mission is to ensure that clinicians can confidently utilize the absolute best AI technology available for their patients. Over the past few years, we have built the world’s largest radiology AI marketplace, integrated deeply with leading enterprise PACS providers, and earned the trust of some of the largest healthcare enterprises across the globe, who rely on us as their partner in their AI and automation journeys. We are privileged to have International Finance Corporation as a partner as we grow across the world.”
The company said that while it currently operates in radiology, it plans to expand beyond medical imaging into pathology, genomics and general medicine.
Dr Mahajan added, “We will soon move beyond medical imaging into the domains of pathology, genomics and general medicine, and one day, if there is a robotic surgeon somewhere using AI to perform surgery, we hope that it will be running through CARPL.”
Farid Fezoua, Global Director for Private Equity and Venture Capital, International Finance Corporation, said, “Expanding access to high-quality diagnostics in emerging markets is one of the most pressing priorities in global healthcare, and AI is becoming a critical part of the solution. CARPL.ai is building the digital infrastructure that enables healthcare providers to adopt AI at scale, improving diagnostic quality and expanding access to care. IFC is proud to support a company that combines world-class innovation with India’s deep technology talent, creating high-skilled jobs while addressing a critical global healthcare need. This investment reflects World Bank Group’s commitment to advancing innovation, strengthening digital health ecosystems, and ensuring the benefits of AI reach patients in emerging markets and underserved communities worldwide.”
Alok Goyal, Partner, Stellaris Venture Partners, said, “We are excited to see CARPL’s remarkable journey since our initial investment and to watch our original thesis play out so strongly. Over the past few years, the team has executed exceptionally well, earning the trust of leading healthcare institutions worldwide, building deep partnerships with leading PACS providers, and enabling millions of patient scans through its platform. This is a testament to the vision, ambition, and execution of Dr. Vidur Mahajan and his team, and we’re excited to continue supporting CARPL as it builds the foundational infrastructure for AI-powered healthcare globally.”
