Dr Indira Hinduja, Consultant Gynaecologist (IVF and Infertility specialist) & Dr Kusum Zaveri, Consultant Gynaecologist (IVF and Infertility specialist),experts from PD Hinduja Hospital, Mahim conducted a free, interactive and knowledge sharing session for couples aspiring to become future parents. Additionally, present at the session were Dr Vasant Mundra, Consultant Psychiatrist and Dr Purnima Prabhu, Paediatric Nutrition Therapist, who provided couples with a broader perspective on the various psychological and nutritional factors associated with undergoing IVF treatment.
Dr Hinduja said, “Today In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) has become a routine, textbook procedure that is being practised by majority of the hospitals. The acceptance towards this procedure has increased and is no longer a novelty. However, there is still a social stigma associated with In-Vitro Fertilisation in India, with most people not being aware of the treatment. Through this session, we want to reach out to infertile couples aspiring to become parents, give them an opportunity to understand both, the positives and negatives of undergoing this treatment and help them find the best suited solution.”
Dr Kusum Zaveri, Consultant Gynaecologist (IVF and Infertility specialist), said, “The most important aspect is providing support and preparing each couple for the various procedures involved with IVF. In addition to the physical changes, there are several psychological and emotional implications that come along with undergoing IVF treatment. We want every couple to receive the best of both worlds- Quality, reliable treatment and the emotional support that they need.”
During the session, Dr Purnima Prabhu Pediatric, Nutrition Therapist and Dr Vasant Mundra, Consultant Psychiatrist at PD Hinduja Hospital also talked about the relation between nutrition & infertility and stress and infertility.
