iHub Anubhuti-IIITD Foundation, a Technology Innovation Hub (TiH) specialising in Cognitive Computing and Social Sensing, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Medanta Institute of Education and Research (MIER), a not-for-profit entity focused on healthcare research at Medanta (Global Health Limited). The partnership aims to advance healthcare innovation through collaborative research, knowledge exchange, and skill development.
The MoU was signed by Vinay Mehta, Chief Executive Officer of iHub Anubhuti, and Dr Shoibal Mukherjee, Director of Medical Research at Medanta, in the presence of dignitaries from TiH, MIER, and IIIT-Delhi. This agreement formalises the organisations’ shared commitment to fostering advancements at the intersection of healthcare and technology.
The collaboration will focus on joint research activities involving faculty members, scientists, and clinicians from both organisations. It also aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise to design and implement programmes that enhance research and education. Academic exchanges, including guest lectures, seminars, workshops, and conferences, will be organised to encourage the sharing of insights and experiences between the institutions.
Students and research staff from both organisations will be given opportunities to participate in academic events. The partnership will also enable shared access to library resources and research materials. Additionally, provisions have been made for students, clinicians, and staff to undertake short research stays at the partner institution with faculty approval, supporting hands-on learning and collaborative initiatives.
Speaking on the collaboration, Prof. Ranjan Bose, Chairman of iHub Anubhuti and Director of IIIT-Delhi, said, “Combining iHub’s expertise in cognitive computing with Medanta’s leadership in medical research, the collaboration will focus on joint research, knowledge exchange, and skill development. This partnership lays the foundation for impactful advancements in healthcare, promising a future of transformative on-ground solutions and cutting-edge translational research.”
Dr Shoibal Mukherjee, Director of Medical Research at Medanta, stated, “In the age of advanced digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and robotics, medical science can only progress if there is close collaboration between medical and computational scientists. This partnership will seek implementable solutions to medical problems in both hospital and community settings.”
Vinay Mehta, CEO of iHub Anubhuti, highlighted that the partnership brings together two committed organisations to enhance the country’s healthcare ecosystem. “Our efforts will not only lead to the development of new indigenous technologies, but also measurably improve patient care, and give a fillip to the healthcare industry in general,” he said.
iHub Anubhuti, established under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, focuses on advancing cognitive computing and health technology. The foundation has been instrumental in building translational research ecosystems, including the Medical Cobotics Centre. Medanta Institute of Education and Research, leveraging its network of tertiary-care hospitals and clinical expertise, aims to integrate transformative healthcare solutions into medical practice through its focus on clinical and translational research.
This collaboration is expected to strengthen efforts to create innovative, technology-driven solutions for healthcare challenges, driving meaningful advancements in the field.
