Plenome Technologies, a start-up incubated at IIT Madras, has secured ₹6.5 crore in seed funding from Indian and international investors. The company develops blockchain and AI-based platforms for secure data management in sectors such as healthcare and e-governance.
This funding round was led by Luxembourg-based Ovington Capital Partners, with participation from UAE-based AADI and investor Manish Gandhi. The investment is expected to support Plenome’s efforts to expand its solutions globally.
Founded by Prof. Prabhu Rajagopal, Faculty at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras, along with Vijayaraja Rathinasamy and Mr. Anirudh Varna, Plenome aims to ensure data security, privacy, and interoperability across institutions and geographies. Prof. Rajagopal’s research group on Automation and Data Engineering at IIT Madras’ Center for Nondestructive Evaluation laid the foundation for the company’s focus areas.
Plenome’s platform BlockTrack includes the ‘OraganEase’ solution, currently being tested in partnership with a state-level transplant authority in South India. It manages sensitive organ donation databases. The company’s blockchain-based voting software, BlockVote, was deployed for IIT Madras student elections and is now being scaled for large organisations under a pay-per-use model.
Plenome is also piloting ‘Ashwin’, a suite of AI-powered tools for electronic health data management, in dental practices. The system supports voice-enabled input in several Indic and foreign languages. The firm plans to extend Ashwin to eye care, cosmetic, and fertility domains.
“Our work improves access to healthcare in remote locations while enabling interoperability and insight generation based on structured medical records. Our work on remote elections is very exciting, offering the possibility of voting through mobile devices from any location. We are grateful to Ovington, Ram and Manish for backing this vision. We hope to grow organically with impact in the coming years,” said Prof. Prabhu Rajagopal.
Co-founder Vijayaraja Rathinasamy stated, “At Plenome, we are driven by the conviction that technology should be purposeful and inclusive, reaching those at the margins and delivering outcomes that are tangible, equitable, and sustainable.” Anirudh Varna added, “By decentralising critical systems from healthcare diagnostics to secure voting, we are putting power directly into people’s hands. We are looking forward to scale our Ashwin and BlockVote platforms globally.”
According to Dr. Tamaswati Ghosh, CEO, IIT Madras Incubation Cell, “Operating in health tech and e-governance domains, which are fiercely competitive, Team Plenome brings some unique strengths with novel technology-backed solutions powered by Blockchain and AI. Their solutions for healthcare and voting have already gained wide appreciation and I learn that efforts for trials at leading national and international chains are at an advanced stage. Glad to note their first fundraise led by our ecosystem partner Ovington.”
Plenome’s platform is based on a patent-protected architecture that enables the storage and retrieval of data across institutions and geographies while maintaining user control. The firm is also developing a distributed AI protocol, designed to enable AI-based insight generation built on verified data logs.
Commenting on the investment, Marco Palacino of Ovington Capital Partners said, “At Ovington, our cross-border strategy is designed to help India-based startups like Plenome access global markets and scale internationally. The partnership brings strategic alignment, market access, and capital support to accelerate Plenome’s mission. With a focus on breakthrough innovation and global impact, Ovington is well-positioned to support Plenome’s vision for the future of digital health and e-governance.”
Investor Manish Gandhi noted, “In a world where security and reliability of data is key, Plenome with its team led by Prof Prabhu, Vijayaraja and Anirudh brings complementary strengths to solve problems on large scale in health and voting with data privacy and security. I am happy to be part of Plenome.”
Ramasubramanian of AADI added, “Plenome represents the kind of visionary thinking we look for in high-impact ventures deep tech rooted in real-world need. Their Blockchain and AI-driven platforms tackle complex challenges in healthcare and e-governance, two of the most critical and rapidly evolving sectors globally. With strong IITM leadership and a scalable model, Plenome is not just solving today’s problems — they are shaping tomorrow’s digital trust infrastructure.”
