Interim Budget 2019-20 focuses on ‘Healthy India’

Interim Finance Minister, Piyush Goyal says the government aims to create a ‘Healthy India, with distress-free and comprehensive wellness system for all

The Interim Union Finance Minister, Piyush Goyal announcing the government’s poll year interim Budget 2019-2020 in the Parliament said that the government aims to create a ‘Healthy India’.

Presenting the interim budget Goyal said, “The government aims to create a ‘Healthy India, with distress-free and comprehensive wellness system for all. Healthy India, with distress-free and comprehensive wellness system for all is the ninth dimension of our vision for 2030.”

Goyal also listed out ten most important dimensions for India’s growth and development for times to come and stated that healthy India is the ninth dimension. He said, “We will be aiming at a healthy society with an environment of health assurance and the support of necessary health infrastructure. Our government has rolled out the Ayushman Bharat scheme. By 2030, we will work towards a distress free healthcare and a functional and comprehensive wellness system for all.”

Mentioning about the reforms made in the health sector by the NDA government Goyal said, “The Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the world’s largest healthcare programme, Ayushman Bharat, to provide medical care to nearly 50 crore people, which resulted in Rs 3,000 crore savings by families of poor sections.”

Informing that lakhs of poor people in the country have benefitted from the reduced cost of medicine, Goyal added that 21 AIIMS are being established or operating in the country and the 22nd AIIMS will be established in his home state Haryana.”
