Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre has announced the launch of the OMEGA 3T MRI, a new diagnostic imaging system designed with advanced technology and patient-centric features. This is the first installation of its kind in Mumbai. The system was inaugurated by permanent trustees Rajiv Mehta and Prashant Mehta in the presence of other trustees, senior doctors, management, and staff of the hospital.
The OMEGA 3T MRI includes the world’s first 75 cm ultra-wide bore, which allows greater comfort and accessibility for patients. It is designed to accommodate claustrophobic, elderly, paediatric, or bariatric patients. Silent MRI Technology reduces acoustic noise, creating a quieter environment during procedures. The system also features AI-powered imaging with deep learning reconstructions to enable faster scans and sharper results.
The system uses a 3T superconducting magnet and advanced homogeneity to produce clear images with strong tissue contrast. Scans can be completed in 10–12 minutes compared to the conventional 30–40 minutes. With scanning speeds up to 36 times faster than standard MRI, clinicians can obtain detailed images in less time. This reduces patient discomfort and motion artifacts, which is significant for paediatric and emergency cases.
The OMEGA 3T MRI supports full-body imaging across neurology, cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics, abdomen, pelvis, breast, vascular, and spine. The system includes a 300 kg capacity table to accommodate a wide range of patients. Automated setup tools, including EasyScan and AutoPositioning, reduce preparation time for scans.

The MRI suite will be operational 24×7, offering supportive amenities including calm lighting, ventilation, music, and voluntary sedation for children or nervous patients.
