Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre launches modular and hybrid operation theatre

Facility integrates surgical systems, monitoring technology and infection control measures

Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre has launched a modular operation theatre complex designed to support surgical procedures through integrated systems and clinical workflows. The facility introduces updated surgical infrastructure intended to support patient care and surgical procedures.

According to the hospital, the operation theatre complex incorporates surgical technology, patient control systems, monitoring systems and patient safety protocols. The hospital stated that the infrastructure upgrade forms part of its investment in healthcare infrastructure.

The modular operation theatre includes laminar airflow systems, a HEPA filtration system and surgical control panels with digital viewing boxes. The upgrade also includes installation of anaesthesia pendant systems intended to support workflow, safety, ergonomics, mobility and space utilisation in the surgical environment.

An antimicrobial wall system has also been installed within the operation theatre complex. The panels are designed to reduce infection risks, including surgical site infections that may occur during surgical procedures. The modular operation theatres are also equipped with a centralised carbon dioxide system designed to support surgical operations.

The surgical pendant systems are ceiling-mounted equipment management units designed to support surgeons during procedures including robotic surgery. The newly installed surgical lights include in-built cameras that allow recording of procedures for documentation, training and academic purposes.

According to the hospital, the modular operation theatres allow integration of surgical and medical equipment introduced in the market. The hospital stated that the design supports the adoption of medical technologies and procedural workflow. The anaesthesia pendant system installed within the theatre further supports the operational capabilities of the modular operation theatres.

The hospital also introduced a hybrid operation theatre within the complex that integrates imaging technology, patient safety systems and surgical infrastructure within a single surgical environment. According to the hospital, the integration allows surgeons to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the same space.

Commenting on the launch, Rajiv K. Mehta said, “It is a proud moment for us to unveil our new state-of-the-art modular and hybrid operation theatres. This advancement reflects our continued commitment to investing in cutting-edge technology and global standards of care, ensuring that our patients receive the safest and most precise surgical treatment possible. At Lilavati Hospital, we remain dedicated to combining innovation with compassion, strengthening our promise of excellence in healthcare.”
