Manipal Hospitals Bengaluru has expanded its liver care programme with a multidisciplinary team bringing expertise in surgery, hepatology, and perioperative care. The team, based at the Old Airport Road unit, will oversee developments in liver disease management, complex hepatobiliary surgeries, and transplant services, and extend specialised support to other Manipal Hospitals units across Bengaluru.
The team includes Dr Jayanth Reddy, Lead Consultant – HPB, Liver & Pancreas Transplant and Robotic Surgery; Dr Sandeep Satsangi, Lead Consultant – Hepatology & Transplant Hepatology; Dr Shruthi H. S. Reddy, Consultant – HPB, Liver & Pancreas Transplant and Robotic Surgery; Dr Nagesh P. N., Lead Consultant – HPB, Liver & Pancreatic Transplant Anaesthesia; and Dr V. Rakesh Reddy, Consultant – HPB, Liver & Pancreatic Transplant Anaesthesia.
The expanded unit will oversee evaluation, complex hepatobiliary surgery, adult and paediatric transplantation, and intensive perioperative management.
According to the hospital, Dr Jayanth Reddy brings experience in liver, pancreas, and multivisceral transplantation, as well as robotic and minimally invasive HPB surgical work. Dr Sandeep Satsangi contributes more than a decade of hepatology experience across cirrhosis, liver failure, liver cancer, and fatty liver disease, with training from Manipal University and PGIMER Chandigarh. Dr Shruthi H. S. Reddy adds international experience in adult and paediatric liver transplantation and robotic HPB surgery.
Perioperative care will be led by Dr Nagesh P. N., whose work includes transplant anaesthesia and intraoperative management of critically ill patients. The team also includes Dr V. Rakesh Reddy, whose areas of practice include transplant and cardiac anaesthesia, ECMO support, TEE-guided evaluation, and high-risk surgical management.
Manipal Hospitals Bengaluru stated that the expanded transplant unit will increase its capacity for complex liver and hepatobiliary cases. The combined expertise of surgeons, hepatologists, and transplant anaesthesiologists supports the hospital’s work in advanced transplants across age groups and in meeting clinical requirements of patients receiving specialised liver care.
