Manipal Hospitals continues its collaboration with the Maldivian government–funded Aasandha scheme to provide uninterrupted access to multi-specialty treatment for Maldivian citizens.
India’s proximity and lower cost have made it a preferred destination for Maldivians seeking advanced medical care. Every year, an average of 500 to 600 Maldivian patients receive specialised treatment at Manipal Hospitals for conditions ranging from cardiovascular and orthopaedic issues to neurological disorders and cancer. Minimally invasive robotic surgery is among the most sought-after services at the hospital, helping patients with complex spine and orthopaedic conditions regain mobility and achieve recovery within days.
Dedicated language assistants at the hospital ensure Maldivian patients face no language barriers. Visa and travel assistance services support smooth travel to and from India. An international menu is provided to meet the culinary preferences of overseas patients.
Doctors and medical staff across Manipal Hospitals are reported to be skilled and experienced in their specialties, with recognition for understanding individual patient needs and managing cases with compassion.
The Aasandha scheme allows Maldivians to access hospital facilities at an affordable cost, including diagnostic services, ICUs, round-the-clock emergency care, and the in-house pharmacy. This year, the hospital introduced an AI-powered health and wellness companion service, enabling patients to select personalised health checkup packages.
Karthik Rajagopal, Group Chief Operating Officer of Manipal Hospitals, said: “Maldivian patients form an important part of our international patient community. Over the years, they have trusted us for reliable access to advanced, multi-specialty and quaternary care. Our continued collaboration with the Aasandha scheme enables us to further strengthen this access and ensure timely, specialised treatment for patients seeking high-quality care.”
Aminath Zeeniya, Managing Director of Aasandha Company Limited, said: “We value our continued partnership with Manipal Hospitals. Our long-standing association has ensured consistent access to the hospital’s quaternary and multi-specialty care. We look forward to enabling even broader access to advanced healthcare services through this ongoing collaboration.”
